As a former Lyft driver, that Nebraska bit was quite satisfying. 🙏 I once drove 25 minutes for what I _hoped_ was a 3am ride to Atlanta airport. Turned out it was a 5-minute cigarette run in Forsyth County. 🤦🏿♀️

I was on one of those 3-streak things where you get more money if you do 3 straight rides. I did the first one, then the 2nd one was far away and down a long dirt road. So I get there and no passenger. I wait the alloted time. Then they take me off the streak even though it wasn't my fault the passenger didn't show up. I tried calling, couldn't get through. What a load of horse crap. Never drove for them again. I then drove for Uber. They were better. But when I did my taxes I ended up making about 1/2 of what I actually thought I made. These companies shouldn't even be existing. Making less than min wage? Yeah okay. No thanks.

@@rudeartichoke2567 In some places, though--like in Puerto Rico years ago--they revolutionized opportunities for people who literally had none. So just because it was bad for you doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. That's your call, whether to work for them or not, but other people also have the right to have them exist and work for them if they want. Just because we don't like something or consider it harmful doesn't mean we get to control if someone else does it. It's like these people in Texas trying to ban ALL transgender procedures. Yeah, some may be harmful, but just because it is bad for you doesn't mean it never helps anyone else ever. Banning things we disagree with has to happen at some point--like when a victim cannot meaningfully consent to what is happening--but I think we tend to be way too quick to try to say things shouldn't exist just because they wouldn't be good for us.
@becominghero9754 Жыл бұрын
@@rudeartichoke2567 Part of the tax issue is the govt, not the company. You as an independent contractor shouldn't be PUNISHED with a higher tax bracket for being independent. The high self employment tax in the US particularly screws over minority women with kids in poor areas trying to net extra income in ways that allow them to be at home (so independent business or work). Lobby your representatives to end the self employment tax and treat 1099 employees and small business creators WELL, not like criminals for trying to do something outside a corporation.

Ghost jobs. Or you didn't past the checklist on the resume and their internal checklist. Ghost jobs are a means for companies to get real world data on the current job market. Using this data to determine what people are willing to accept as pay and what sort of skill set they can purchase based on their application. They can then use that data to reevaluate their spending or treatment of their employees in those positions. It is also a means to hide nepotism or cronyism by pretending they are giving everyone an opportunity to be hired or promoted while rewarding those within their inner circle. For those in that department that desperately need more help, the company is showing they are trying without having to spend the money on extra employees. Leaving those employees to be overworked and never compensated because they are salary employees.

Oh my Fing God!! What I find interesting about this, is that business owners have managed to make tipping part of the culture. The culture that helps and pay the wages for their employees. What a beautiful concept make everybody else pay for my employees. I am still a tipper because I know people make the dick squad. However it still pisses me off that I have to subsidize employees wages for somebody making millions and millions of dollars. Don’t get me wrong if I have to make a choice I’ll always take my driver!!
@palmertrolls4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's how they do. Leave it in the hands of the "employees" and the people who use the service. Then sit back and watch. Interestingly, the original Uber CEO did not want tipping to be a part of the experience, and that set a precedent of people not tipping their ride share drivers. People are more likely to tip the person who brings their pizza than the person who delivers their body safely to their destination of choice. I know pizza is good, but still ;)
@claudiamac4534 жыл бұрын
Ben Palmer I used to waitress and it was based on effort. Now it is shared. No incentive. The idea was hey you are exceptional I’ll give you a tip.
