So, I just watched the rest of the video and I can't believe how wishy-washy you guys (RSG) are about this issue. "Oh, it's not so bad". I strongly disagree. We. Are. Independent. Contractors! WE decide which tools to use to get the job done. This is one more way these companies are showing us that they're NOT our partners.

I don't use their stupid lyft navigation, I just look up at the address and type it in waze, when I drive for lyft or uber I always use waze.

There’s a work around. Delete app, upload it again, go to account, settings, navagation-all the choices pop up Lyft, google, waze, Apple, then choose “.google maps”. That’s what I do because I hate lyft maps. This is how you can still use google, you don’t have to use “Lyft maps”.

Julie, I tried it. I selected Waze first and it goes right into the Uber map. Same thing when I select Google map as my default. Somehow it prevents me to stop Uber map. Total bummer.

Mine switched over to lyft maps but I was able to just go into setting and switch back to goggle..it's just asked me what cam they do to make lyft maps betters

Thank you so much! It appears to have worked. Lyft maps sent me the wrong way down one-way streets, flashes the pax's address once and then I'm on my own for both pick-up and drop-off. I don't need the hassle of fiddling with the app repeatedly to bring the info back up. One passenger got in, saw the Lyft map time prediction of 15 minutes, and expressed shock! We made it in under ten minutes. I just feel like Lyft maps withholds important info and it drives me nuts. NOT conducive to good driving. On the contrary, it's dangerous.

I guess people never really pay attention Lyft navigation is designed to take you the shortest mileage but the time is always longer, traffic, road closures, detours none are takin into account when using Lyft navigation. It’s designed this way to limit your income by eating your drive time for the little pay that they pay us in order to control us in violation of California law and keep how much we earn limited so we have to come back the next day struggling again and again.

@@hashimsabul2880 that is very true also speaking from my personal experience 10 years in this game and for the last two monitoring this nonsense with Lyft navigation against Google maps and Waze every time you compare Google maps and Waze gives you a little bit longer mileage, but a lot shorter on timeLyft is always shorter on mileage, but the time always goes through the roof. It’s a total control game at the end no matter how we look at it. I’m just telling you my personal experience.

You're onto something. They definitely choose shorter distance over time. However, let's say you can take the highway, instead of going through towns lights and shit, you will get more. Gotta play the game right

I have a common toll it quotes upfront to take but then when the ride starts out has me avoid the toll, even though the toll way is always faster (and they have to pay me full price for it, while I get tolls at a discount)

This won't affect me. As a private contractor, I design the route. I only follow the app when I agree with its directions.

This sucks. I liked using google maps because when im driving if there was a road block or accident google maps 1 - told me about the accident/ roadblock ahead of time and 2- suggested an alternate route around that roadblock or accident. 3- I have NO TOLLS turned on so I avoid toll roads in my area because Uber/ Lyft has stopped reimbursing for tolls in different locations, types of tolls and times in my area. This keeps me from having to fight to get reimbursed.

This new KZbin layout sucks so hard! It's like code vomited all over itself. Anyway...Lyft and Uber need to get slapped for forcing us to be their employees. If we're independent contractors, we decide what tools we will use to complete the job. They can't force us to use their in-app navigation. This will just lead to more cancellations by drivers. Today I got a ride request and the Uber Driver app prompted me to use Uber's navigation. I declined and chose to stick with Waze. The info took way too long to transfer to the Waze app. Mind you, the car is in motion as it usually is when ride requests come in. When Waze finally loaded, there were no directions. By this time a 1 mile pickup turned into a 2 mile pick up and the info still wouldn't load. There goes my potential profit. I just cancelled the ride and kept it moving.

Uber’s navigation doesn’t keep the destination address visible. I prefer Waze big time, but anytime I choose a different route to avoid hills, badly synchronized traffic lights or traffic, I get a message from Uber saying that by me choosing a detour the passenger might cancel. I always compare both navigations if I’m unsure about traffic and about 50% of the time it’s different routes.

It's been done 4 months ago that they tooled away. Lyft is very downsides their services in every aspect. Uber and Lyft only focus on profits 📈 . Drivers are just a dispenser disposal tools for Uber and Lyft.
