He didnt really stop quickly though. He was still wimpering when fixing the TC, breathing to calm himself down. Then he was still a bit frightened, so he tried to appease you with fun photography play. I think that was a genuine burst of emotion. He was very unsure if he can trust you or not, but still didnt want to "make you angry". If he faked any of it, i think he would have killed you faster. Next the argument of holding down "push to talk". Ever wondered why when laughing with your friends on discord you also push the button? Or not even that. Laughing in and of itself is probably more quiet when watching a video, then when you are with friends. Nothing fake about it. So it is not because your laugh is fake, it is because we more or less subconsciously want to make sure our expressions get noticed by humans around us. Crying is similar, especially for children. It changes a bit in adulthood. Because it is more embarrassing for an adult to cry, so we adults rather cry alone than in public.

It was actually pretty wholesome. Just before you grieved him the last time, he apologized and tried to tell you that you couldn't be in his group. This kid was a lot more innocent compared to that scandinavian kid. That was video was my first exposure to Rust btw. I will never forget how you said that he had some things in his base that you wanted...oefff that was tuff.

Not sure if he played you but I think some of it was definitely real. I think when he realized his big brother and friends were going to beat his ass for letting the base get taken so easily is when you could hear some real fear in how he responded. Hopefully the kid learned a valuable lesson without it costing anything of any real value aside from some stress.

My gut reaction is that he was genuinely crying. 8-10 year olds can flip emotions on a dime - he probably was crying, but it's also likely that the depth of feeling that prompted that crying wasn't equitable what might motivate an adult to cry (re: this is you taking candy from a baby rather than, say, abusing a dog or something [those sad dog videos always bring me to tears]). So... yeah, he was sad, but not *really* sad. Honestly, I think I would have done the same thing as you, but there's a significant part of me that would have wanted to take his stuff and teach him a lesson about trust.

I betrayed a kid 2 years back, his team had been farming 2 days and the dude was pretty new in the game.. They had a box of gp, box of metal, lockers with kits and so on. He trusted me and i had to take all their loot, because the group was toxic and doorcamped me a wipe before. It felt so wrong, but i just had to do it, to get my justice for the wipe before. The second i finished transfering loot, his teammates came online and told me how angry they are, because i took took advantage of the niceness of this kid. End of the story, they kicked him out of their group and flamed him for losing it all. I also have it on my youtube, i fell kinda bad, but it was funny af :D

As someone who have nephews at that age dealing with a lot of fake crying when they don't get their way, that was 110% fake, when he started crying. You can hear it in the way he starts crying, he's pushing for the tears. Is there tears, sure, but I'm in no doubt the he has perfected it so the actual sniffle when stopping crying, trust me your not the only one who he has used this on. On the part of, should kids this age play a toxic game like this? Absolutely not, because at that age it is all they can think of when they play day after day, they are not ready to deal with the betrayal and level of toxicity and the emotions it feeds without proper guidance from an adult. It honestly can fester in some very dark thoughts and lack of trust in other people. Just have a listen at the end, he says "is is my loot" with actual sadness in his voice, they get way too attached to the work they put in a game like this. So again, in no way shape or form should he play this game. (unless it is PvE only)

When I was a kid, I started playing TIBIA. It was my first MMORPG, and I farmed sewer rats for like 8 hours to get 100 cold coins. I tried to buy a mace from a player. I asked him how to negotiate, and he told me to throw the cash on the floor, and he would throw the mace. I'm still waiting for him to throw the mace. I hate you, "SAPO ARMADO." It was 20 years ago, and I still remember. But it was a good lesson. I never trust a random player ever again.
