I’m impressed,what’s another thousand or so. I have a center oiler to build. Not in too much of a hurry, I’ve had it since 1973. I love all of the goodness you bless us with, Thank You

Calico is PolyDyne from TX same Coatings Carl owns PolyDyne and license’s his process. I have used it since 1989 when testing head gaskets at FEL-PRO our pistons would develop cracks in the pin boss area under the intake pocket BBC L-88 in 12 hours or three tests. Carl coated a new set of forged pistons exactly the same brand that we have been cranking. After 200 testing hours still no cracks. Been recommending ever since. Oh I even had my 1 cyl Nitro RC boat piston coated. I couldn’t kill it like I did to others on 65% Nitro.

I'd love to see these piston coatings after say 10k miles of normal street use in a hi-performance engine, just to see real world wear.

Good overview of coatings. What do the piston coatings cost? My opinion is the piston companies do a poor job of explaining the benefits of their coatings and the cost. I have to believe these companies have data that they don't advertise to show the benefits in either, friction reduction, temperature reduction, resistance to detonation, durability etc...

How thick is the ceramic coating on pistons?

how do the coatings hold up to street use
@lykinsmotorsports2 жыл бұрын
If they hold up to severe race use, street use is a walk in the park.
