Thank you for covering lyme disease. I did not catch my case in time and the symptoms from disseminated lyme disease robbed me of a degree in astrophysics. I am now in treatment for babesia - a coinfection of ticks. They need to spend more money researching tickborne illnesses.

Patients could alter their educational course by entering the fields of Lyme research, lobbying or advocacy. Sadly, the disease doesn't allow this... Those who become infected don't have the wherewithal to join in the fight for anything but their health. This is another thing about Lyme which angers me. So much heartbreak attached to this illness.

Awesome presentation. It's so refreshing to hear the truth about why this disease is not being properly diagnosed and treated. The fact that the CDC did not pursue Dr Lee's DNA based test is deeply disturbing. How many tens of thousands will suffer because of that decision.

California here. Begging for doctors to get training to treat their very ill patients. 20 years after a family member became seriously ill from lyme, doctors still refuse to treat it. It's a nightmare from hell. Imagine having to diagnose and treat yourself with NO help.

Lymedisease.org to find a LLMD in your area, also bitten in California (someone forgot to tell the ticks not to cross state lines). Fortunately my husband was able to drive me to Irvine, now after a year of treatments can drive myself. 6 years of searching for help from Western Medicine to be told NO it's not Lyme Disease, unable to tolerate light, sound or quick motions along with many other symptoms. Everything prescribed by these doctors made symptoms much worst. BTW: Now on Medicare covers my treatments & testing at least for now, who knows once this administration gets their dream of privatizing Medicare. The For-Profit Insurance Cartel will not cover most treatments for Lyme Disease unless you have a PPO or better. Look up Lyme Disease patients lawsuit against IDSA.

+lindavip "Imagine having to diagnose and treat yourself with NO help." I don't have to imagine, I've done it, both for myself and others. It's called "take responsibility, be proactive, and stop worshiping these corrupt morons in white coats called 'doctors'." You research your ash off looking for solutions, thanks to this amazing tool called "the internet" that didn't even exist 30 years ago. Take on personal authority, use discernment and wisdom to determine who has the most reliable information and actively DO something to fight what is happening. I've had to do it again recently with family. As I bust my ash researching and studying, the people around me cry to doctors and do NOTHING. Stop effing whining and DO something.

It's a do-it-yourself disease. You can remediate it with freely available foodstuffs and substances. Yes it's horrible, but if you can think outside the square you can fix it.

I was just diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease for 4 years it was misdiagnosed and it is awful. I’m waiting to hear if a doctor that deals with it will accept me as a patient. Most of the doctors I’ve called will not take any type of insurance it’s insane. But I’m praying he will take me and my insurance.

@LoriLeeWalters Hi, well I see you wrote this 3 years ago so you probably know a lot more now. I wished I had the info after my bite. It is an insane disease and it was made to kill off Japan & Korea in WWII Biowarfare. Read "Bitten" by Kris Newby. So, yes. No Lyme doctors bill insurance. You can bill your insurance yourself. I've always been reimbursed. It's hard. Definitely. How are you now ? Carolyn 💚

My father died with ALS, my stepfather died with MS. I have Lyme and was diagnosed as having MS. I believe both of my fathers had Lyme and other tickborn infections. It's very sad to me that I was ignorant then about what I know now because I would have done anything to help them. Fortunately, I finally got a positive result on my Lyme test which ruled out the MS diagnosis. The thought of being put on steroids ( for MS) with Lyme is frightening.

Dr. Lee is the man! He is in the good fight! Ive been disabled sience 2006. I had over 25 rings on my body. I really feel lucky to be here today. Im glad there are good people out there really trying to make change on what is an epidemic. Hopefully there will be great vaccinations and cures available to all. Prayers and gobless those that are sick. With prayers and faith anything is possible!

climate change is not the reason. I happen to be in Northern Ontario. We have a vacation place on Lake of the Woods. This place has recently been studied and found to have the highest rate of ticks with borrelia bacteria in Canada in both adult ticks and nymphs, 73%, and 43% respectively. Now the "experts" assured us for years that these ticks cannot overwinter successfully in such a cold climate, but they were proven very wrong. It proves that you cannot trust even the experts on this matter. For years Point Pele in southern Ontario was considered hyperendemic for Lyme and the worst place in Canada. Now Kenora and Lake of the Woods area has beaten out this southern Ontario hotspot for Lyme. Lake of the Woods area is much colder than any other previous area, and has been shown to have had a self sustaining tick colony with borrelia bacterium for many years, predating even the one found much further south. There is evidence to suggest that the Lake of the Woods area has had Lyme ticks since the early 70s.

Get rid of the mouse infestation, because they carry the bacteria that causes Lyme. The ticks feed on the mice, then carry the disease to larger animals and humans .If you destroy the initial cause, the ticks will not carry the bacteria. The problem is sanitation. People litter and throw their food all over the place, the mice and wasps come, then they wonder why there is a problem. Garbage is the problem, not the ticks. The ticks are the result of mice populations feeding on trash.

Yes I have it. My Dr couldn't help me. Once the 2 weeks of antibiotics, he said I can't help you. Nothing was giving for pain. No information, nothing. He threw me under the bus!

I had recovered from Lyme and babesia, thank god!. and I spent about $30,000 usa.out of pocket, because no health care will help... The CDC test was only 10% accurate and so the CDC is the problem.

I. Am in seattle wa, Contrated Lymes almost 4 years ago. Was told that I have Delusional parasatosis And so many other exuses that I almost started to believe The doctors were somehow a part of the cover-up. LOL anyway I've now been diagnosed still not getting treatment yet but in May at the end of May I start with a dermatologist for the skin part the rest hopefully we'll soon be history I'm scared but I'm excited to get this gone I'm excited to go back to working out and to be able to live a halfway normal life again once I'm free and clear of this I promise I will help anybody that I can help. God bless us all!

"I'm not an expert in climate change" .....but you make this the name of your book??? My stepfather has suffered from Lyme's Disease on and off for over 25 years and has seen the best of the best doctors to tackle his problem......he's finally getting better. The U.S. Government needs to stop ignoring its origin and do a deep dive investigation of what happened at Plum Island. This is not a conspiracy anymore; the U.S. Government needs to come clean.

My Grandson was bit by a tic while mowing that was 10 days ago. He has a bullseye rash radiating from the bite mark. He is in college (even though he has asbergers) so no insurance at all. my daughter did a video doctor thing and he ordered Chris a 10 day supply of doxycycline. He is having trouble with throwing up and diarrhea from the doxycycline. I tried an online lab to get his blood tested, I hit a brick wall as the test is 159.00 and my husband of 30 years just passed away, I am on a small widows pension, I can not afford that. I am hoping someone knows of a clinical trial researching lymes disease. he wouldn't have been bit if he wasn't mowing my lawn. I feel so so guilty. He is truly a good boy. There must be a trial going on somewhere. please let me know

The Lyme disease and climate change author has literally zero scientific basis for that theory, and admits herself that she's "no climate change expert". She just has a personal belief t that climate change exists, and tied it to this, making her book irrelevant. This is unfortunate because she makes good points otherwise, but climate change being brought into this just makes it cringe worthy. It makes it appear (no matter your opinion on climate change) that there's some other personal agenda here. As an author, she should know better.

The problem is exposure to humans, by means of active questing infected ticks. The real soldiers in this battle must be the mothers of the affected children. Any adult, who is not aware of Lyme disease and the risks for catching it, has been kept in the dark, due to lack of information. Ask anyone you know, and you will get different answers on the subject. The general public lacks adequate education about ticks, disease, and the real danger of exposure to tick bites. Education about prevention of tick bites can reduce the 300,000 cases of tick related diseases. Programs for education of mothers of young children, and their care takers, need consistent educational opportunities, to make them aware of the continuous and changing risks of tick exposure, in the endemic geographic locations that they frequent. This includes, homes, schools, ball fields, parks, bicycle routes, play areas, lakes, camp sites, hiking trails, and all other locations children will be at high risk for tick bites.

Discussion about, cures and healing from Lyme should never be referred to as a fight or involve battles between people or groups of people. We all should be able and willing to work together to help eliminate the severe, debilitating. long-term suffering involved. So, I don't even understand why or how a fight or a battle ever gets started or is even allowed to get started other than the fact that arguing about many issues in life, even apparently how to elimniate suffering, is sadly part of human nature. But if individuals in general were more morally conscious, held themselves more acountable and expected by society to be more responsible for their actions and behavior towards each other, then fights or battles wouldn't even start let alone have to be stopped.

Plum island needs to be completely repopulated with bees in their hives, stevia plants, manuka bushes, kanuka and olive trees. Might take a while to get up and running, but doing that would cure, yes CURE, the illness world wide. It would take a while for stage three infections, but it worked for me.
