WORRIED ABOUT THE MARKET? SCHEDULE YOUR FREE PORTFOLIO REVIEW with Thoughtful Money's endorsed financial advisors at www.thoughtfulmoney.com
In order to succeed, it's critical to understand the rules you're playing by.
And the rules for investing may have recently changed.
There's a good argument to be made that we are now in an era of fiscal dominance. Today's guest, one of the smarter you'll get the chance to hear from, is certainly making that case.
So what exactly is fiscal dominance? Why is it important for investors to understand? And which assets do well, and which do poorly, in such an era?
To find out, we have the good fortune of speaking today with Lyn Alden, investment strategist & author of the recent book "Broken Money: Why Our Financial System is Failing Us and How We Can Make it Better"
And if time allows, we'll also ask for her outlook on the dollar, gold and Bitcoin.
Get Lyn's book "Broken Money" here: www.amazon.com/Broken-Money-F...

Lyn Alden is the most holistic thinker among pundits I follow. The reason why she has a definitive and considered opinion on any question thrown her way is because she has already thoroughly studied all the angles and implications. And she is incredibly articulate, too. Listening to her on any channel has been an enjoyable and enriching experience for me. She is a gift! 🙂

Adam, I appreciate your attention to how the lower and middle class are affected by the markets. So many of the u tube videos are looking at things through the eyes of the wealthy. We are middle income, and are just trying to get to the end of our lives, hoping we can die broke, but not living in our car, eating dogfood.

She's absolutely amazing. You could take all of your other guests the last 30 days and wrap it into one interview and then her interview and you'd have everything you need. It's incredible. She has a magical gift of being able to take very complex simplify. but most importantly her analysis is so structurally sound because she understands how the system works. I often listen to your guess and know that either they don't know what they're talking about or they're full of it because 2+2 doesn't equal five you can never have that with her.🎉

Adam, Love the Lyn Alden interview. But you will need to interview Lacy Hunt who in his latest quarterly piece did a kind of hand-waving dismissal of the fiscal dominance idea. So right now in this area, the battle is on between Mr Hunt, whose quarterlies I always read and Lyn Alden, an up and coming thinker.
@fearandobey7

Lacy Hunt is great
@jcgoogle1808
@jcgoogle1808 15 күн бұрын
Yeah, Lacy Hunt and Steve Hanke are QTM priests who think money supply and specifically M2 is the only driver of inflation. And since M@ is shrinking,.. deflation is bound to get here with after the long and variable lag is over. Jeff Snider is also in the deflationary camp,.. as is or was Stephanie Pomboy,.. I think Daniel DiMartino also, who says Lacy Hunt is her mentor,.. Not that it's worth anything,.. but I agree with the fiscal dominance influence and higher for longer inflation ahead. The insane unprecedented unnecessary unsustainable criminal fiscal abuse by this admin when we're not in a recession or a WW that caused the inflation in the first place,.. is the only thing propping up anything that is propped up in this economy. The Fed is smashing on the brakes while the senile ole joe admin and the demcorats keep smashing on the gas pedal, And it's the middle and lower class who are paying the bill in inflation, loss of wage buying power, lowering their standards of living, they can't afford to buy their American dream,... and the ironically sad part is,.. they keep voting for the far left policies that put them in this situation. So they get what they deserve I guess.

Wow! What a great video. Lyn Alden is so well articulated. She's really telling us: Monetary and Fiscal policies should work hand in hand to have a full effect, but we live in an era where government just doesn't care, it will spend and double-down and spend more and more.. it just doesn't care, and it would debilitate the monetary policy. The sad outcome will be likely BOTH the transition to a digital dollar CBDC that will give ultimate control to the government thus shrinking even more the independence of the central bank. At some point the central bank will have no actual meaning left. Honestly, it feels we're not too far from it already.

The worst thing about the irresponsibility of all this money printing is that when everything implodes in North America, it will be the whole world that pays (as Lyn mentions with Latin America )while those who enjoyed the party the most will be the least scathed. Adam - maybe you could get Naomi Klein on at some point. Her books were really interesting.

Not if they do not own Gold but massive risk on assets.. they know that the bonds fundamentals have dropped at least 30% and still way overvalued in the book despite Lyn wasn't specifically pointing out the concerns such as the current disturbing Yen play is due to that lingering valuation mismatch issues

Great interview. She's finally fine tuned her definition of "fiscal dominance" more closer to what it actually is. On another channel not long ago she seemed to place a great significance on the interest on the treasuries being the dominant stimulus to the economy. That is pocket change compared to the actual fiscal deficits. This time she accurately puts the overwhelming "dominance" on the actual meat of the fiscal deficits; helicoptered checks, PPP, personal and business... college debt forgiveness (although she didn't mention that specifically), ,, the "Inflation Accelerations Act" aka the "green new ponzi scheme",.... because she says energy is where to be during the upcoming stagflationary period.

I'm told that the 10yr would be more like 5.5% IF Yellen were funding the debt by selling 80% Bonds, 20% Bills (like normal) rather than the 20% Bonds, 80% Bills she is selling now. When that goes back to normal, 10yr rate goes WAY up. Bills rate goes way down. Artificial invert on the yield curve.
