Sounds great! Reminds me of the Salem Highballers's cut of this tune on 78

This is the kind of music I really enjoy. I like stuff from the 18th and early to mid 19th century's.

Wow! I'm so glad my friend shared this video! My family on my husband's side is from the Lynchburg area. They would just love it if I played this! What tuning are you in?

Neat! My family is from Southside Virginia with some ties out towards Buckingham, Appomattox, and Bedford counties near Lynchburg. I will be near there at Batteaux and Banjos, June 15-17 at James River State Park. (The best time to catch the music will be June 15th) Come on out! I am in “standard” tuning (relative pitch of strings). My actual tuning is probably closer to dADF#A which was where the banjo was typically tuned in the nineteenth century when gut or horsehair strings were being used. I use gut on this banjo. The lower tuning is also better suited to my voice.

@@barrowwhearybanjo Fantastic!!! Thank you so much. I might be in Georgia for another festival that weekend, but if I end up in Virginia I will try to find you! Fantastic--that's usually where I tune as well. I am a beginner, but I have a Levi Brown reproduction banjo I'm building confidence on. The gut strings sound great. I have Aguila Nylguts that do the trick. This song may be too advanced for me, but it will certainly be something to work towards.
