I was born in 1970, growing up watching Wonder Woman was huge for me because even at primary school I was bullied. I always looked forward to getting home watching her every week, I would beg my dad to watch Wonder Woman, she was an inspiration for me, as young as I was, I always wanted to be her. Thank you Linda/Wonder Woman for being my favorite icon. #WonderWomanFanforLife!!

It was Lynda's manager and then husband Ron Samuels who pushed to give Lynda the majority of screen time, increasingly limiting Lyle's scenes, and in turn his role, throughout the show's run on CBS. During the first 13 episodes on ABC, including the pilot, Lyle's character Steve Trevor shared equal screen time with Lynda' dual roles of Diana Prince / Wonder Woman -- and he was always integral to each plotline. And as much as I truly admire Lynda (forever the definitive live action embodiment of the comic book character), she was well aware of Ron's intentions and ambitions for her career. She wanted success too -- nothing wrong with that 😊! Indeed, in the fall of 1978, Ron renegotiated Lynda's salary per episode to the point she was the highest paid actress on television, until the series' end in '79. Another example of his influence -- he pushed to have Diana Prince, while undercover, sing 2 songs from Lynda's debut album on Epic Records, titled 'Portrait,' on the episode 'Amazon Hot Wax.' Lynda certainly benefited from his zealous management. He put her on the map in Vegas with her sold out concerts at Caesar's Palace. But he was naturally very controlling -- almost domineering, and Lynda was in her late 20s and easily influenced by an older man more experienced than she in the brutal business that is show business. She would leave him in 1981, and thereafter file for divorce. All the above has been confirmed by quite a few industry professionals routinely involved with the show. Lynda knows that, otherwise why ruminate that she feels the need to apologize to Lyle should she run into him? Lyle was a seasoned pro and damn well knew what was going on behind the scenes. But all of that is okay. From the ABC pilot of 1975, Lynda quickly became famous -- not easy for a 25 year old thrust into the spotlight from her first starring role. She's human. Now older and much wiser, she has often remarked that young stars, particularly in the celebrity obsessed culture of the 21st century, need objective guidance, particularly from a grounded family support system. At the height of Lynda's fame, her family began to bow to her while jokingly calling her "Your Highness." Well, let's just say the message was not lost on Lynda. That Lynda divorced Ron, and a few years later married Robert Altman and with him happily raised 2 children speaks volumes about her true desires -- love, happiness, and a family of her own. Today, she has a successful career as a vocalist & entertainer -- her lifelong passions, and thanks to renewed interest in Wonder Woman thanks to the films, she's as beloved as ever. She survived the pitfalls of fame, and came out the other side better for it.

If you do a quick Wikipedia check for Lynda Carter, you’ll see her son was born in 1988 and her daughter in 1990. She states in this interview that - at the time - her son was 23 and her daughter was 21. So that makes this interview around 2011/2012.

@@peterboon8280 It was Wonder Woman; that’s the biggest thing she has acted in. That series, to my knowledge, was the first successful attempt to have a Wonder Woman show at all-mainly due to Lynda Carter. She looked flawless in the costume, as if she just stepped out of the pages of the comic book. She also invented the “spin”, and other moves associated with the character to this day. That’s the fascination, which makes it extremely difficult to envision other people in the role; she fit so perfectly-too perfectly, actually. Other attempts were made prior to that and since then, but were unsuccessful, with the exception of Gal Gadot.
@Delilah.Elizabeth
@Delilah.Elizabeth 2 жыл бұрын
@@peterboon8280 I have already read up on that, including a book written by author Jill Lepore, which discusses the creator of the character, William Moulton Marston. I have read other Wonder Woman literature as well. I was merely pointing out Ms. Carter’s contributions to an already established character in an attempt to answer your question regarding the “fascination”. So I might suggest you go admire that!

Lynda Carter is AMAZING. What a great person, and great role model. I love this interview. As for how old this interview is, she mentions that it has been 37 years since she first started playing Wonder Woman (which was in 1975). Based on that, it seems this may have been filmed in 2012. 🙂

Why haven’t you done one with Lindsay Wagner? She was the first female action hero on television. She broke the glass ceiling for Lynda and Charlie’s Angels.
@juanantoniobl7550
@juanantoniobl7550 Жыл бұрын
That's not true. She was a supporting character in the Six Million Dollar Man. When she had her own series, both Wonder Woman pilots (74's Cathy Lee Crosby and 75's Lynda Carter) had aired already. If we're going to consider Lindsay Wagner a pioneer, then she's behind Ivonne Craig' s Batgirl and many other actresses that played a supporting role in a tv show.

@@juanantoniobl7550 the WW movie with Lynda Carter was not a pilot. It was considered as a TV movie. Yvonne Craig was also a supporting character. Lindsay was the first female to star in an action series as the main character without being second banana. WW episodes aired a month into the series premiere of TBW as “specials.” They pre emptied TBW.
