SessionBand Tutorial -Deep dive!

Imagine having a world class pianist, bass player and drummer who would accompany you while you were practising scales, chords, tunes or improvisation on the sax. Wouldn't that be amazing? Well with the SessionBand Jazz apps, you can have exactly that!
In this video we take a look at how to use this fabulous resource and how to set up and save simple loops for your major scales and chords, minor scales and 251 chord progressions. I also show you how to transpose your track for alto or tenor sax too. You can also save and export your tracks with a few simple clicks.
Lots of my videos use SessionBand Jazz and people ask me how to set things up and so this tutorial should answer any of your questions.

I would need to just buy one app (at least to start with) like the Jazz Vol 1 and it is all self-contained and I don't have to buy anything else? By that I mean, I don't need to buy the Original Session Band and then download the Jazz Vol 1 in addition as a plug in type thing?

Thanks Lynden. One question, does the (9) mean that you can practice with the 7 notes of the scale and add in the 8th, 9th or both if you like or is it supposed to use all 9?

Hi Leonard, it’s a chord instruction but you you can use that note if you like 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎

Hi Lynden, I am new to chords. I noticed in the edit menu that there’s a number, and sometimes a letter in parentheses, on the end to each chord. For example: Abm (b5) or Ebmaj7 (#11). What do these represent?

Hi there Klaas and welcome. Thanks for the question. They are chord extensions and give you more information about the chord. They usually are quite straightforward, a #11 tells you to sharpen the 11th or 4th note, that would make it a Lydian. Am7b5 tells you it’s a flat 3,5 and 7 which is probably a Locrian. Hiya, the sound quality is definitely far better than iReal pro, but iReal is more like a chord chart in a book and has a feature where it tells you what any chord is, with lots of alternative suggestions so both are invaluable to me in different ways 🎷🎷😎😎🤝🤝

@@lyndenblades I’ve had iReal pro for a long time but hardly ever use it. Session band sounds amazing but I’m concerned I just wouldn’t use it much. I’m busy practicing other stuff. There’s too much to practice.
