I adore almost everything about this reno, including the kitchen design, the turquoise 60s sink (and the turquoise typewriter -- don't think I missed that!), and the main bathroom. But I find the fireplace bulky and loud, not styled for a broad swath of buyers.

I've only ever watched the sisters because they are local to me. They do an intro shot for this post at the south end of (Sunset Ave N) Edmonds - but the house is in Everett. . . . misleading. (and huge difference in house prices.) Any decent RE would have told the seller to get rid of all the play equipment in the backyard, and all the baby stuff in the house prior to being listed before the sisters ever started on it.

As a daycare, it sure lacked warmth and homeyness, so I can see why it was hard to sell as a home. I wish the shutters were sage green instead of 80's green, but I don't know when this was filmed (also 80's burgundy on the fireplace brick). The tile to the ceiling over the mantle is interesting, but I am not sure that I would have picked black with white grout. They made the sale and the profit, so I guess that says it all. It's a budget reno and it was a success, but I be the new owner might change the powder room counter top (and sink?). The main bath is lovely, but I would have liked a bigger vanity for more counter space (and watch out for your toes with the bamboo bathmat!). I would have used the nook in the dining room for a mudroom cupboard, or even a dining hutch, instead of the DIY desk. I don't love the busy wire rack in the dining room. Pretty staging in the master. Nice to see them so happy and getting a quick sale.

Usually I really like their work. Very much so. But not this time. In my opinion the fireplace is too individual, the kitchen doesn’t have a good flow, neither has the Dining-space. The cracks in the yard would make me wonder if there are foundation issues. The turquoise sink is somewhat eclectic. And the bedrooms are too stark for my taste.

The kitchen is pretty, but I wondered about the short counter with the sink and all the empty space, especially from there to the frig.

The homeowner and friend look more like mother and daughter. It might just be my monitor but the tile over the fireplace really clashes with it. It looks like the stone surround was painted, which means a better color paint could have been used.

Could have been so much better. Firstly, brick fire place...red was ugly and has less appeal to buyers. The small bathroom could have extended into the 'office' space to create 2 full bathrooms to add more value. Kitchen/dining space had far better options to gain more worktop and cabinetry - i.e. under the windows (even if it meant changing out windows). Lastly, these girls, in general have good design ...but they simply overclutter the spaces... less is more.
