When I was a teenager l had my bedroom walls covered in Osmond posters, Elvis, and The Jackson Five. When I moved out. My mom left the posters hanging on the walls. When she passed away in 1990. I inherited the property. I moved back in the house. I left the posters hanging on the walls for several years. I took them down in 1996. I rolled them up and put them in the closet. I still have them as of 2021.

I remember being a little kid and my boomer oldest brother had a big party in the garage and went crying to Mom because the girls kept asking our Dad (who was very handsome and charming) to dance instead of dancing with the boys. Mom made Dad go in the bedroom and watch TV until the party ended. Then the girls kept asking, "Tim, where'd your Dad go?" Poor Timmy, he couldn't win for losing...

I'm not sure how true this is? I read that the hit song for the Osmonds "One Bad Apple" was written by George Jackson. When he wrote the song he had the Jackson 5 in mind. But Berry Gordy turned him down. So George gave it to the Osmonds......????
@carlagirl74 жыл бұрын
James Hegarty Hi! Yes, it’s true.... I totally remember the controversy around it.... George Jackson (no relation to the Jackson Five (or J5 as they were known) wrote the song with the Jackson Five in mind...Motown had its own policy as to who could write or submit songs for the J5, and at that time most of the songs were written and produced by a team known as “The Corporation “ which consisted of Holland, Dozier and Holland and Berry Gordy himself. If you were not a songwriter under contract at Motown, you would not even have been considered. It was this rule that eventually made the Jackson Five leave Motown and split up the group as Jermaine was married to Hazel Gordy (Berry Gordy’ s daughter) and Jermaine decides to stay at Motown. The group wanted to write and produce their own songs....and Berry would not let them.... ( there is sooo much money to be made when a singer can write their own songs). It also cost the Jackson Five the loss of their name as Motown had put it in their contract that they owned all rights to it... Thus the group was renamed The Jacksons, signed with Epic Records and the rest is history.....The Jackson’s would eventually have their own hits writing and producing such songs as “Shake Your Body” , “ Can You Feel It” and “Heartbreak Hotel”.... and we all know about Michael....In fact Michael told Berry Gordy the only way he would do “Motown 25” was if he was allowed to perform “Billie Jean” (a song that he had written and produced). That performance took Michael’s career to a whole nother level.....When Donny was wanting to make his comeback years later ..... he consulted Michael and ask what to do and was told “ You should release the record but don’t have your name revealed....let the talent talk for you”... Donny did and “ Soldier Of Love” launched his comeback....(Sorry the answer is sooo long but I love trivia and pop culture !)

My mom took me to see these guys in Charleston, WV in 1974. Like most young girls, I was "in love" with Donny. Posters on my walls, everything I had was purple (because it is HIS favorite color), had all their records including Donny's solo albums, even celebrated his birthday on December 9, lol. Ahh, the days of innocence and young love.....

Anyone who thinks Beatlemania never applied to any other bands never saw the Osmonds in concert! I saw them at the KY state fair in 1971 and the girls drowned out the music! Awesome group and family.
@lisettegarcia70138 күн бұрын
Why do you say that? The Beatles started off the British Invasion during the sixties and that lead to bring out The Rolling Stones four months later. Both bands were also friends with each other before they became big, The Rolling Stones' manager worked with The Beatles for six weeks and he brought their bad boy image to lead them to have the nickname: "Anti-Beatles". Girls were also going crazy for Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones. Next, John Paul Jones helped The Rolling Stones with one of their songs for their 1967 album and it soon got him to form Led Zeppelin. As for the Osmonds and the Jackson 5, they were the same since they started off being a family band of brothers, one of their sons were friends *(Donny and Michael)* and both bands came out in the seventies. The Osmonds and Jacksons had a popular member in the group and it's pretty much the youngest; Donny and Michael.

I loved the Osmonds as much as I loved the Jacksons. Both groups shared the same choreographer, Cholly Atkins and their dancing skills were so intact.

I know it looks funny now, but these dance moves were hot at the time, that was how it was. The guys were perfectly in time with the moves and the sound, it's all done with enormous enthusiasm and you can see they're giving it all they've got, which is considerable. They'd all been performing since they were little boys, they were consummate professionals. People loved them, parents and kids alike. Crazy now, but those were better times in some ways.

50 years ago today! I remember it like it was yesterday. I was 12 years old and it was on this day I developed the crush that would last for the next 3 1/2 years. I just thought Donny Osmond was the cutest thing alive. I spent my allowances on Osmond brothers albums, bought all the teeny bopper magazines with him in them, had posters all over my walls and drove my mother up a wall. It's so hard to believe all that started 50 years ago. I can still sort of see what I saw then but this time around I'm more amazed at how well they danced. Someone must've worked hard on their choreography.

As corn-balled as they may be interpreted by today's standards, these boys put a whole lot of work into this number. The choreography, as dated as the jump suits make them appear, is beautiful and at times quite mesmerizing. Well done Osmonds of yesteryear! And thanks for the posting this vid. Great to see this number.

Yes, the synchronisation of every move and step is incredible. Just s pop song but man did they know how to present it! Personally, I think they were better than the Jackson 5. I've always liked the Osmonds, even when, as a teenager, it would have been 'uncool'. And the great thing is they stand for something - good morals and values - which, god knows is so badly lacking in our modern world. I'm not religious - don't need to be to respect values.

I am glad that I am a fan when Donny did Amazing Technicolor. He did an amazing job. All of his brothers are great. I had the privilege of meeting with Donny a few times. I am right in the middle of Donny and Marie's age. I could be an additional brother. I wish they didn't close down their theatre in Branson.
