This song will always reminds me of when I was a kid and my parents separated: my younger brother and I would go and stay with my dad at his townhouse in Marsfield and we'd stay up and watch Prisoner until we were told to go to bed. I guess it was a time in our lives where everything seemed surreal - a time where we weren't ready to face the reality of what was happening in our lives. For some reason, hearing this song always gave me comfort and it's remained a favourite throughout the years.

Use to give her roses, I wish I could again; But that was on the outside, and things were different then. We'd built over world together, with a love so clear and strong, But that was on the outside; Where did I go wrong? On the inside the sun still shines And the rain falls down; But the sun and rain are prisoners too, When morning comes around. Last night I dreamed we were together, Sharing all the love we've known; Til I had to face the nightmare, Of waking up alone. On the inside the sun still shines; And the rain falls down; But the sun and rain are prisoners too, When morning comes around. On the inside the roses grow; They don't mind the stoney ground; But the roses here are prisoners too, When morning comes around. Use to give me roses, I wish I could again; But that was on the outside, And things were different then. Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Alan Caswell

I love this song , it reminds me of when me and my girlfriend had a mis communication about going to the pub one night to meet her friend . Anyway , long story short this song brought us back together . We still talk about it to this day , obviously she was with ok her ordeal having to spend the night at her friends house she was very lucky to survive and thank god she reasoned with me and as I never made it to meet her . I will never let her down again even though it wasn’t intentional . I would literally crawl on my hands and knees across a street to put drawing pins in her Pooh . That’s how much I love her still

Love the way they tell us nothing about the lady singing.Steve Wright takes the piss at the end as well fucking great.Throw in insulting Angry Anderson and I can see why Australian people think we are horrible. Its a nice song and totp2 has given more background to far lesser songs. If they have done no research on the girl singing then dont show it.
