In this video I reveal why I chose to purchase the new Lynskey Titanium GR300 Gravel Bike. This isn't the typical kind of video I make. There aren't many reviews of this bike out there, so hopefully you find this one helpful.
Links to some of the things featured in this vid:

And in case you were wondering, nope I'm not sponsored by any of these companies. (But I sure wouldn't mind! 🙃)

I have this same bike. I think it's an excellent value. They arent the TOP of the line in terms of finishing, but for the price it really is unbeatable. I use mine for road and gravel with 2 different wheelsets. Great wide quality. Truly a N=1 bike.

Indeed! I plan on doing a long term review video of this bike near the end of the season. I think the value of this bike is really where it shines, especially in comparison to other titanium bikes out there. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the content. 🤘

Great review. I am not exactly sure why, but for some reason Lynskey constantly gets over looked in Ti bike reviews, with the small, boutique brands getting all the attention. My guess is it is all about marketing and Lynskey spends their time and energy on building great bikes at amazing value, not buying ads or paying influencers. They've been at it longer than anyone, having founded Litespeed, and were the first to make a commercially viable Ti frame bike. I think Teledyne was the first to try but the alloy they used was pure Ti and thus too flexy. Lynskey has worked with, and built bikes for, both LeMond and Merckx, two of the greatest pro cyclists in history so they know how to build a great frame. I have a 2010 R340 road bike and I know it will last for several lifetimes. It is not the lightest bike I own but that only matters if you're racing up hill, which I don't. It is my go to bike for every road ride I do and the only bike I will absolutely never ever let go. You will never be disappointed with a Ti frame made by Lynskey.

I have 3 of their frames: GR270, Helix Pro and Backroad. The GR270 is the previous model but the geometry is still the same. I gave it to my wife and she loves it. The Helix pro is my daily road bike and its built like a tank, feels alot more robust than the gr270 due to the 6/4 ti tube. My favorite of the 3 is the discontinued Backroad which was their touring bike. Massive stack, oversized top and down tube for good stiffness and can also be used as a gravel bike. I don't care if people are snobs about Lynskey, they make excellent road/gravel frames for value and for casual riders.

I bought this frame last year and it’s been great. Had been riding an aluminum gravel frame for 2 years and it was beating the crap out of me…the titanium frame is a significant upgrade.

Glad I'm not the only one, haha! It was so bad that I had almost given up on gravel all together. I believe there are probably decent aluminum gravel bikes out there, but there probably aren't many.

I just ordered mine very impulsively. I wish I would have gotten the eagle rear derailleur and 52 cassette for a drive train mullet. I can't wait until it comes. Thanks for the quick review.

Thanks for your review. In late Sept I received my GR Helix 2X (700 X 40) from Lynskey. Jordan Myers helped me with my purchase and he was great to work with. We are fortunate to have both good gravel and MTB rides near where we live in Bergen County, NJ. I decided on a Ti bike for their purported comfort and durability. My son and I both ride it. For the last 5 years I have been riding a Canyon Spectral Al 6 for MTB, gravel and points in between. My goal with this bike is to go well beyond my typical 25mi gravel rides and connecting stretches of road. So far, so good - 25 is easy and relatively comfortable for a non-suspension bike. I may decide to go with a stem and/or seat post down the road - err - gravel at some point, but am happy with my Helix so far ;

Nice review. I have the Pro GR version of that same frame (diamond top and down tubes, stiffer ti alloy, but I think it has the same geometry). Love, love, love it. My first ti bike, coming from carbon. I built a set of carbon road wheels for it and it it’s my quiver killer now. Does. It. All.

Nice review, wish we could get these easily in the UK. A word of warning though, titanium is tough but its not indestructible! 🙂 I has a Raleigh Timet years ago and it cracked between the downtube shifter bosses. Of course modern bikes don't have these anymore. It was almost spookily comfortable though at still light and stiff in its day.

I used to have a GR260. Then switched out for a steel gravel which I love. But lately, the GR Helix has gotten my attention. Those titanium helix tubes look so good

Shoutout for repping the Prologo Kappa Space! I've tried dozens of saddles and keep landing back on the Prologo Kappa series. Just bought a Prologo Scratch M5 PAS now, hoping it'll make gravel rides just a little bit better. The modern saddle designs just don't fit me, Bontrager Verse, Spesh Power, Ergon SR, Selle Italia Novus... each time I went back to my cheap Kappa Space.

Yeah you know you've found the right saddle when you stop noticing it at all. The Kappa Space model works perfectly for me, so I don't even bother with trying the others. I have that saddle on three bikes!

Good review of a nice bike. Great to have options when ordering. You save money by not buying things you will not need. I started your recent video of riding the Blue Ridge Parkway and need to finish it. I was there many years ago for a BMW car club event in Fancy Gap and Ashville. Wonderful countryside there. On the return home through Buffalo then into Canada, we drove the BRP to the park at the end. It rained and was foggy limiting visibility to nothing at times. I would like to go back someday and experience it again. Probably not on two wheels as I will soon be sixty years old and there are no real hills to train on where I live.

Thanks for tuning in! Don't let age stop you. I saw several older people out riding the parkway, like 70yr old guys just pedaling up these massive climbs. An e-bike might be something for you to look into. Either way, I hope you make it back to enjoy the parkway.

Thank you for the encouraging words. I do not own a car and ride for everyday errands Summer and Winter. I have a medical condition that limits how much I can do. It seems that up to 3 hours and 80km is about it. So as I am able I enjoy exploring roads paved or not near where I live. Next month I hope to return to riding at our local track. 138 metres of fun with 50 degree banking in the corners.@@KyleTheCyclist

Great review, you’re a natural and the video has great production quality. I learned the hard way on the lack of carbon durability when my top tube on my road bike cracked after a group ride crash. After repairing, it never rode the same. I researched titanium and went with Lynskey R300. Added Lun Hypers and it rides like a dream. Looks incredible too with the etched finish and weave in the wheelset. Been thinking about taking on the Katy Trail crossing of Missouri with my R300 and what changes I’d want to make to make it more trail compatible given the Katy’s crushed limestone surface. From what I’ve read, 28s are the minimum size you’d want to use which is what I ride using Continental GP 5000s. Probably would want something more puncture resistant though. Any recommendations on tires and other mods for the Katy? Thanks! Now I need to watch your other videos. Keep up the great work!

@golfinfool777 Yeah you will do fine on the Katy with that bike. I rode the whole thing on a set of gravelking SKs in 28mm setup tubeless and had no problems. It's a very tame trail. I have a video on that trip too. It's older but you might enjoy it. As for other recommendations, I wouldn't overthink it. It's an easy fun ride.

Good review, man. I have a Lynskey Helix road bike. Definitely solid, sturdy, and comfortable to ride, but it's definitely on the heavy side (23.5 lbs) and I have Ultegra Di2 with carbon wheels. I also have a sworks aethos (15.5 lbs) and the differences are STARK. Nevertheless, just get out there and ride!!
@KyleTheCyclist
@KyleTheCyclist 10 ай бұрын
Oh yeah. It's by no means light but feels surprisingly quick. I bet if you put some good carbon wheels on the Lynskey, you could make up for a lot of that weight and get an even better ride. I've been eyeballing the ENVE sets. Thanks for dropping by and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

Great minds think alike! The redshift stem takes the edge off and it's definitely noticeable.
@szechaunfishsoup

Love the component selections. Comfort = Speed. Have you used the shockstop stem on the road or is this build only for gravel? I'm curious if the stem is worth it for long distance endurance rides.
@KyleTheCyclist
@KyleTheCyclist 8 ай бұрын
I've done some road riding on this bike and I can barely notice the stem while on all but the roughest of pavement. It's more for taking the edge off the constant chatter of the gravel. I don't think it's worth the weight penalty for a road bike, though. That's my two cents.

Can 700 X 45mm schwalbes fit with some room to spare ? 47 or 48 s?
@KyleTheCyclist
@KyleTheCyclist 3 ай бұрын
The official clearance limit for the bike is 45mm. I haven't fit a set of Schwalbes yet, but the Maxxis Rambler size 45 mm fit good in the back and tight in the front. The Rambler is a much knobbier tire than the Schwalbe GS one however. So I would say as long as you're not facing a lot of mud, you could probably fit a set of 45s.

Anybody having issues with the Lynskey Ti setback seat post? I installed mine per Lynskey instructions, torqued to spec, but it keeps slipping, allowing my seat to tilt upwards. Ugh. How do I fix this?
