One of my all time fave Skynyrd songs. Once was rocking out to the song in my car, singing and drumming like a madman, until the cop pulled me over for speeding. I told him that Call me the Breeze from Skynyrd was on the radio and I lost track of my speed. He said "Great song!" and gave me a warning!!!

Wow, that’s awesome but also actually hilarious, I literally just saw a meme on the internet the other day that said exactly, “I’m sorry I was speeding officer, but ya know I was listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd”. The writer of this song J.J. Cale, an Oklahoma country boy, became a rich man off songs like "Call Me The Breeze" and Eric Clapton's versions of "Cocaine" and "After Midnight". And to think, years prior to this song, Lynyrd Skynyrd was on a lunch break in the studio when one of their roadies, who was classically trained, sat down at the piano and started playing his version of Free Bird. The band walked back in and heard the roadie playing. Depending on who tells the story, it was several weeks or months later that the roadie became an official band member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. And just listening to him play the piano on this song, not to mention watching Jamel play "air piano" tells you all that you need to know. Great song, great reaction!

@@BST-lm4po The credits I listed were only the parts that were _specifically_ credited on the album for that particular song. The album separately lists each member of the band and the instruments they each played throughout the album. But the credits for each song are only pointing out any special parts that a player performed. For example, it points out that Gary specifically did the lead for this song (as opposed to Allen) and that Ed did all the guitar fills. So, it's just understood that Allen was playing rhythm and Bob was on drums. Regular members of the band normally played their respective instruments on all the tracks except where noted, as was the case with Bob Burns. He played drums throughout the album except on "I Need You" which actually had Mike Porter on drums (who would later become the drummer of Atlanta Rhythm Section). Same with Leon Wilkerson. He played bass on all tracks except "I Need You" and "Don't Ask Me No Questions" in which Ed King played the bass. So, I wasn't "leaving them out". They just weren't mentioned in the credits for that song. Because as I said, its understood they were in there playing their instruments as they were on the majority of the rest of the tracks. And I only gave a extra mention of Ronnie Van Zant at the end of the credit list (even though he also wasn't listed) because, as important as ALL the members were, the man was the _force_ behind the band! 🙂👍💯

Just a note: Back in Dec 2009, Ed King was posting in his forum talking about the Second Helping album and he listed who some of the hand clappers actually were. Here's his quote: "The hand clappers were the band members (minus me, I wasn't there that day). Wicker was Ronnie...one of his nicknames - got it from a character in a gay movie (from what I understand). A joke, naturally. Punnel is Billy Powell, I think Allen Collins was Toby. Kooper was Kooder, Mr. Feedback was our soundman Kevin Elson and Gooshie is roadie Joe Barnes. Nixon was a roadie for The Eagles who challenged us at the pinball machine many times. (The Eagles were recording ON THE BORDER in the next room.)"

I'm gonna keep on recommending Atlanta Rhythm Section - you gotta check them out! This is a fantastic boogie'n song! Loved watching you shake and shimmy! LOL! Seriously, though, ARS is so dang good, and no one reacts to them!

We went all the way through 2020 with not one of my favorite reactors looking at the 2020 anthem, "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight." Jamel, fix this shit.

@@joeday4293 ARS just doesn't get the attention they deserve. I know Jamel would really dig them! And "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight" is the perfect song for getting through 2020! Or 2021 for that matter!

ARS is my favorite, seen them many times from the 1st Champagne Jam in '79 to the Georgia Jam '92 with Lynyrd Skynyrd! Fun times growing up in ATL but now live near the Allman Brothers Big House in Macon, the home of rock n Roll & southern rock

I remember I bought this LP ("Second Helping") back at the end of 1977 right after the crash, and I spent literally 'hours on end' jamming to this song with the headphones on! I couldn't get enough!

keeping in line with southern rock, give TRAIN TRAIN from blackfoot. This song has the greatest harmonica playing in any song ever!

J J Cale was who Clapton called his “man in a cave”. Take a listen to some of his recordings-King of smooth simplicity. The “Tulsa sound”

My dad and uncle's band used to cover this too! High five for having dad's in bands! I was even lucky enough to have my uncle teach me the guitar, and between myself, my awesome choir teacher, and my dad, I learned how to sing as well! Growing up listening to the classic rock of the 60's, 70's and very early 80's really helped shaped who I am today, even if it was slightly before my time!!

Alrighty Jamel, now that you've done this cover you need to dig into its songwriter's catalog. J.J. Cale is a massively influential songwriter and performer. You can literally pick any of his albums and just start going though masterpiece after masterpiece. His 'Laidback' vibe should perfectly jive with yours! Time for a deep dive, my friend!!!
