Y'all are right about the music from those times. Not just the singing (no autotune), but everyone had so many great musicians playing in the bands. Drummers, Horns, Keys, Guitars, on and on. I miss that. Thank God so many Rappers had the musical knowledge to pick out riffs and beats to keep it alive for a new generation of young people to create a new art form. I'm well into my 70s, and I appreciate it. Good music never dies.

Oh and that's a Rhodes doing all those lovely runs and chord blocks along with the Hammond organ courtesy of Billy Powell. Co-written by producer Al Kooper who found these guys when they were a bar band and a key player on many a hit song. Check his credits someday and you'll see how many times he's in the right place at the right time. A legend.

Great song. That was producer Al Kooper on the organ. He played organ on a few of the songs on the first three albums. You will notice that their sound changed after Nuthin Fancy which was Al’s last album.

Yes it is. One of my favorite Skynyrd albums. If there is such a thing 😆 I love all of the first 5 studio albums. They're all flawless Imo. Same with the live One More From the Road album. I actually prefer the deep cuts over the hits.

Love The Blues Project's first album, 'Live at the Cafe au Go Go', especially "Catch The Wind"...with their folk and rock overtones they almost qualified as Southern Rock, same with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Charlie Musselwhite.

Hey guys Ned from Spain stopping by to say thank you for getting back into the Skynyrd. This is where they really turn a corner after 2 excellent albums. Artimus Pyle ( his real name ) became their new drummer after Bob Burns quit, supposedly his girl thought he was wasting his time. ummmm.Ooops ? Pyle and Wilkerson became an unbeatable groovin rock solid rhythm section. That ending has Artimus throwing in some fast paradiddles on the snare n hi hat but still keeps the groove smooth. This whole album will knock your sox off.

Love this song and album. Their first 5 studio albums don't have any bad songs on them. My band use to play this song. It's not as simple as it sounds either, because of those change ups you mentioned. Lots of people have never heard this Skynyrd song, and when we played it, folks really loved it. There's a song on this album called " I'm A Country Boy" that has some really funky change ups and riffs y'all would appreciate. Do a reaction to it if you can, and if not, listen to it on your own. You don't want to miss out on that song.

The guitars and vocals are always the focus on Skynyrd songs, because they are great, but Burns, Pyle on drums and Wilkerson on bass were great well. And get the back story on Billy Pyle, kind of funny for the talent he was.

No John That wasn't Billy that was the great Al kooper on the electric keys Best heard back in Bob Dylan when he won electric for a few years on highway 61 revisited and the great bringing it all back home. Of course after that Al would be a member of blood sweat and tears for years until he discovered Lynyrd Skynyrd and offered to produce them it would be with them pretty much through 76.
