Yeah I have always wondered that too. It must feel weird to be the last survivor of the original band. He's outlived them all, his 2 best friends RVZ & Allen. Esp with Allen you could tell how close they were & how much they loved each other & Ronnie was their brother, father figure, mentor. If you think abt it though he has been with Ricky & JVZ for decades but the original guys were such magic together & just the times they struggled, I know they fought but that workin & strugglin to make it bonds you. I am glad that Ricky is honoring Allen the way he does & glad it is him carrying the torch since he was with them in the early days & how better to sing than Johnny. Whwn he 1st took over, he sounded so much like Ronnie but over the years he sounds less like that but my guess is way Johnny sounds today is very similar to the way Ronnie would sound today. Thanks for sharing this, very cool

A SCREWDRIVER! After all these years! I saw Skynyrd at RFK stadium in 1976 and was up close to the stage squinting with my eyes at Gary's SG on Freebird trying to figure out what the heck was stuck in the first fret, but with him moving around I couldn't get a good look at it. So a screwdriver?! This explains so much! lol...

I'll always remember the last time I saw Blackfoot. It was way back in '85 at Knebworth Park in the UK. It rained for the most part of that day. As soon as Rickey said we're gonna blow those damn clouds away. He sure as hell did

Ice Bob Ronnie Van Zant was the heart and soul of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The “real” Lynyrd Skynyrd died Oct. 20, 1977. Just so you know..

This is a great tribute band but it's not 1973 to 1977 Skynyrd no disrespect but it's not nearly the same thing

@@icebob8555 so did Leon Billy Allen and Artimus Steve Ronnie and Cassie died I'm not disrespecting this group but Johnie vanzant is not Ronnie not even close but I do like him I love last rebel but they should call it something else like In 87 it was called tribute I'm not trying to argue with a Skynyrd fan cause I'm at the top but the true spirit died with Ronnie agree or disagree it's okay with me I value ur opinion of Gary

Southern Rock still slays it. WROQ in Greenville, SC or Rock 101.1 plays all the classics from the 60s, 70s and 80s. It’s a damn good station.
