Howdy ya’ll. Welcome back. Today we will take a deep dive in Lyon, France. We will look through the oldest & rarest photographs of this beautiful French city, while getting deep into a discussion of the narrative as it relates to Lugdunum, The Battle of the same name, the technology and population of Lyon, and we will also focus on the epic Funicular Lines which once ran throughout this stupendous city.

The city of my childhood and still the home of my family. Last year, I spent time to visit and take pictures of churches / power plants... Nothing has changed - Basilique de Fourvière, St Nizier, St Jean, St Georges, Palais de justice, Hôpital Desgenettes, etc. Funicular is still working (St Jean > St Just > Fourvière).

I imagine if we can’t stop fighting and blow ourselves up like the previous Old World civilization, then the world will be repopulated once again. Did anyone see the movie Oblivion with Tom Cruize?? Okay, that plot could be our true history. He keeps rebooting each time thinking he’s the first generation that won the war against the computers when in fact humans lost the AI war and are being deceived and continuously repopulated to look for precious metals or something.

Lyon is such a beauty that I had tears of joy several times when I did an unplanned visit. A short day of course is not enough but still I am impressed. While driving home I did see a Cathedral on a mountain and decided to stay for another day so I was able to visit it. No cars allowed so walking upwards in the summer heat. Who could have thought that I was about to discover a Roman Amfitheater...all by my self. I wonder if I was the first one to discover it though. ;) A bit further uphill there was the most beautiful manmade structure I have ever seen. It will take a hundred visits to see ma 10% of the details. Not going to write a whole book about it here but if you have the chance to go there, it's a must see for sure.

6:22 shows a real early tugboat! if you search a lot of these old pictographs off the museum online youll notice paddle boats in europe long before they were supposedly invented in the states.

Lugdunum - or "hill fortress of Lugh" (Celtic God of Crafting) - was renamed to Lyon. Lugdunum was the center of the silk - yes, SILK! - industry in ancient times. My mother's family was originally from Lyon and migrated to England and Ireland then to the US.
