Burned tracks, that's fun :) You can probably get replacement stepper pcb's depending on how nice you want it, I'd try to use the original one though...

Just a thought... If you have a local print shop you could download the original art and get them to print it out on acetate. Then just use the print to back the artwork after the clearcoat.

@@LyonsArcade I just finished messing around with the idea. As I don't have a backglass I had to make one up. It worked really well with light colors but was more visible with the darks but still not bad. You can get the printer to change the density of the ink and adjust the color to get a nice match.

The back glass looked worlds better than i thought it would. For future back glasses I'm thinking a light grey might be a better colour to use than white, it would have the same basic effect but wouldn't be quite so contrasty. See you tomorrow!

Have you ever tried spray paint after clearing (other than the white you used) instead of the acrylics to cut down on the visibility of the brush strokes? Maybe a light “dusting” might work. Maybe it might block the light. I don’t know.
@LyonsArcade2 жыл бұрын
I've done it , but the problem you run into is let's say your painting a red jacket, if you paint that area red you can't get rid of the missing paint, because no matter how thin you put it on, the part that still has paint is darker than the missing flakes. Usually the color isn't a perfect match either... so it ends up looking like this, except darker, you still see all the areas where the paint was missing but now all your other areas are darker. There's just not a good way to save these if they're really badly damaged...

I remember back in the day at my local arcade they would have a combination of em and solid state pinball machines. And I would get there just when they're opening up but before they turned on all the machines. I would pay attention to the EM's and see which ones still had credits when the game room closed down for the night. And leave credits on the machine. Yeah I found a loophole in the system. Free games for me.

Hey Ron didn't Bally offer a tool kit at one time in order to service EM pinball machines? Seems to me that the place that I worked at that repaired pinball and video games the man used to have a kit that was in a folding pouch that had the Bally logo on the front of it and you opened it up and it had all the little tools, files and contact adjustment tools and the little anvil to where you could replace the points, you file it off and then you put a new point on the end of the arm and then you had a pair of pliers to where you could put the point back on the arm and you could squeeze it and it would peen it so that you could actually put a new contact point on the solenoid? Or would that have been something that he would have put together in a little pouch that would be cool to be able to get that again...

these "back drops" are they all hand painted ? or some sort of reflief? are there any orginal files somewhere?

maybe a table with a light under it, to put the glass ontop to shine threw from the bottom up, and Airbrush custom match the colors and spray each color individually , then clear over it all to protect it . yes its alot more labor but i would think it would get your "close" to being original ....
@LyonsArcade2 жыл бұрын
I'm doing it in my showroom, no airbrushes spraying shit all over the place in here, sorry :)
@101fng2 жыл бұрын
The problem is you’re not just having to color match, but you also have to match the paint’s light transmission. It’s just not worth the effort when repainting from scratch would probably be easier by that point.
