This is a fantastic review. I actually have the 36 set and barely used them before I put them away. They were my first set of oil based pencils. I didn’t understand how to use them at the time. After watching this I’ve got them back out. Your pages were gorgeous! Hi hun.... Yes the shift to oil was frustrating for me at first as well... The 2 pencil types just behave so very differently.... Hope they are easier for you to love this time around..... Lots of light layers

I've had the 36 Lyra set for most of a year. I love the finish, also. These have stayed close at had ever since. They're a pleasure to color with every time.

Thanks for reviewing these wonderful pencils. They're my favorite, moreso than Polychromos, even more than Pabloi, although Pablos have better lightfast ratings and I tend to use them more for commissions (they also have more colors). I wish the company would bring out a 120 set to round out some of the skin tones and darker blues and perhaps a few other colors that are lacking. 72 used to be the standard, but 120 has been the standard full set size for most artist grade pencils for over a decade, and these are definitely in that class. Even Koh-i-Noor brought out a bigger set, and Luminance. Anyway, thanks for getting these in front of people's attention. They're great pencils.

I have this set and they really are lovely. I found that the core in mine does wear down faster than my Faber Castell Polychromos. Yet Poly chromos glides smoother. My Lyra feels dryer, than Polychromos but not quite as hard. My Polychromos is actually slicker yet harder cores. Makes me wonder if batches will vary some because I've heard so many opposite opinions about them. One reviewer said it was dry yet very soft, somewhere between a hard lead and a Pastel pencil. I agree about the thinness. it does bother my arthritis.

Yes I think sometimes we just like different things about them... I agree with you about the polychromos

Hi hun..... Yes with so many pencils out there it's so tricky to decide isn't it.... You could always grab a blending trio open stock to see if they are a set you would love

I first purchased the 36 set and liked it enough to purchase the set of 72. However, there was a slight problem with the 72 set. And that was that there were duplicates of two of the red shades. I have no idea what they left out, which didn’t make for a deal breaker. I had put them away but am going to get them out and use them again.

They are really good pencils. I am able to use them with my Derwent Lightfast and my Caran D' Ache Luminance. I was quite surprised when I bought them off Aliexpress how good they were.

I have the 36 2 broke unfortunately so I have a love hate relationship with mine so sometimes I love them sometimes I hate them but I need to get use to them so I'm on the hunt again for a wonderful pencil I love the steadler noris they are budget friendly yet work like an expensive pencil my opinion of cause

Oh no that's not good was the customer service not helpful for replacing them? Yes it's just a case of finding the right one for you budget pencil wise I am a really big fan if the brutfuner squares

@@emmacolours2020 it didn't bother me but I will remember to try and look for something else the rest of the pencils are quite fine I think it's because I'm looking for a good quality pencil and things in south africa is really expensive due to the ratio to other currency but its okay I think I will stick to the pencils I really like and maybe in future save up for some nice pencils

Hi. I have 36 count set. I was not impressed with it because some colors were smooth to color but some colors( ex. grey green & light blue) were very scratchy. How about yours? Do I have fake ones?

Hi hun.... I have just tried out those 2 colors my blue is nice.... But my grey green is a little scratchy and not greatly pigmented so it may be the pencil itself.... It is quite common to get a pencil or 2 in a set that aren't wonderful unfortunately..... The green doesn't seem wonderfully pigmented at the moment so it may just be the pencil itself..... I don't know what their customer service is like but maybe ask them for replacements to those 2 pencils..... Its always annoying when some don't seem to be right but a good company should deal with that for you.... Sry for your experience hun it is indeed the price we pay as pencil users
