Interesting to hear, first time that I hear music of V Novak. He's the great grandfather of my wife.

Wonderful, I've come to this piece via Smetanas 'Ma Vlaast', the similarities and the differences are interesting and thought provoking. I love Czechia, it's music and people despite being an Irish man.

I came upon Novak by a friend recommending a book by Colin Wilson: 'Super Consciousness, The Quest for the Peak Experience', in which the author on page 63 of the book introduces 'Eternal Longing' by Vitezslav Novak. I take 'recommendations' highly, and at this time I have become a follower of Novak and his magnificent music.

I came upon Novak by way of The Beethoven Satellite Network (WFMT-FM, Chicago's Fine Arts Station). Host Peter VanDeGraff (probably from 2004) had an hour dedicated to "Slovak Suite", music of Novak and Jan Cikker. Both composers wrote compositions called 'Slovak Suite'.

@@jamescombs8316 of course, in English it is similar word, but Novák's piece is dedicated to "Moravské Slovácko", which is part of Czech Republic, part of land on the edge of Moravia and Slovakia. Language of that region is something between Czech and Slovak. And Cikker's piece is of course about his homeland, Slovakia (Slovensko). Greetings from Brno, main city of South Moravia region, Czech Republic👋

This is a much more subtle introspective work than some of his others. Worth replaying often to digest. moodier, darker, than othe works of his.The March is intense!

Ottimo lavoro sinfonico di questo compositore post Dvorak ,perfettamente in linea e coerente con gli influssi del periodo. Complimenti per il bel caricamento.

Beautiful! I came to this via an article by Heather MacDonald in City Journal about music in Prague. I think it is a shame that the music of eastern Europeans was looked down upon by the academics who pushed us to listen to twelve-tone garbage. This is much richer.
