M. Bison is Coming Back! First Street Fighter 6 S2 DLC Character Hints!?

Alright I grinded myself to dust on all those balance changes, so lets take a look at what got updated in World Tour and... oh... ok. Looks like there's something to this here, adding a new questline thats explicitly just shoving in your face M. Bison is coming back as is kinda his deal(he never stays dead for long). Its all in the video, the question is, is this just a lore update, or is this a direct preview of whats to come in Season 2 and beyond for Street Fighter 6 as far as DLC characters go? There are 2 things I’d like to have. 1 is an Australian character preferably indigenous. The other is a Jojo character or at least somewhat adjacent. Street Fighter is full of references to Jojo to the point where some are just ripped right from it. So I’d like to see some form of guest from the franchise. If not directly then they could get Baoh who’s series is made by the same creator and was a precursor to Jojo

If Bison does return, PLEASE make it fast walkspeed, buttonsy bison again. Not the slow paced monstrosity he was in SFV. Bison is my ST main and one of my co-main chars in SF4 and I hated his SFV incarnation for the most part :(. That said also the Shadaloo Gorilla takes precedence above all, bison as a gentleman would gladly give up his spot for him.

Something weird is that the guy in Mexico, who might be Bison, seemingly attacked the remnants of Shadowloo who came looking for him. This is a little odd, because while Bison was never a "I love my minions" type of guy, he still never just straight up attacked them like that, especially if they *wanted* to come work for him. The horse thing is also strange, so it makes me wonder if either it isn't actually Bison, or whatever Bison did to reincarnate (Since every other method seems to not work, Shadowloo being basically gone means no spare empty bodies, and the ones that are alive are able to resist and expel Bison) has caused him to change as a person. If it's a new person, they might be just making an excuse to bring back Bison's moveset with a new character, which would at least please his gameplay mains.

6 being post- *Bison* (even if Shadaloo is still around in some form) was like the whole point of the story setting. Undo that this soon and you might as well have had him in the launch roster. JP's barely finished establishing himself as the new power player, Ed's just starting to really get behind the Neo Shadaloo idea, and Fang/AKI are part of yet another splinter cell somewhere in the mix. Hyping up all these new threads seems like wasted effort if they're gonna pull the rug out from under all of it and have Bison ride a magnificent white horse over their bodies before we even get to season 3.

This might be wishful thinking, but I think that at the very least, we’re dealing with a changed Bison here. We all know how ambitious he was before. It’s been years since V. If he’s alive, why hasn’t he made contact with his followers and tried to take Shadaloo back? Why all the mystery? He’s either unwilling or unable to resume his former role as Dictator. It’s very interesting that the first thing we hear about him doing is something so gentle as healing a dying animal, even if only to use it as a mount. Doesn’t really sound like the Bison we know. Ryu and Charlie’s efforts in V may not have destroyed him entirely, but they might have succeeded in permanently altering his soul, or maybe splitting it into fragments that don’t quite know what they are. A setup like that would allow them to keep Bison around and sell DLC, but relegate him to more of a background role in the story so the new characters can have their time in the sun, at least for awhile. They did say to expect a surprise. Surely they’re aware that brining him back with the exact same trick AGAIN wouldn’t be much of a surprise?

i mean with jp and g running around bison could always come back in a way that he's forced into an unsteady alliance with the good guys to combat a force that is either more powerful or worse than he is in order to vanquish the new foe. bring g back, make him the big bad, bison teams with ryu and the gang to take him down, life goes back to normal. or maybe g doesn't die and the fight continues? maybe jp cuts in? bring in a totally new villain? the possibilities are endless.

If Bison does return, that means Rose likely will as well. In her SFV story, she stated that she had to somehow ensure that Bison stayed alive, seeing as the world would end without the embodiment of chaos to stop G’s plan. However, she did say that she had to go back into the past in order for that to happen. So, this opens up a possibility: SF6 takes place after Rose already went back into the past. This would explain why the storyline seems to derail from the one SFV was building up to. It would also explain why the storyline seems to be repeating, with new characters replacing old ones and such. Although going in this direction wouldn’t make much sense and is probably not what they’re doing with the story.

If this is true, setting this game after SF3 will have been completely pointless. Half of the roster is already SF2 characters and they couldn't spare a spot for a SF3 character even in the first season of DLC. The limp justification has been that at least the old characters' stories would move forward, but even that would be out the window in this case, because just about every character that's actually relevant to the main story has some beef with him or wants revenge. They might as well bring back Evil Ryu while they're at it.

I think the flaw that ALOT of people approach SF6 with, is the assumption that 3 is a canon part of the timeline. Which based on the events of SFV, I think it's clear that they've basically retconned a bunch of it's elements and merged them to create a new timeline, which is where SF6 is at. So I don't think it was pointless at all. It's more like the fans attachment to SF3 as a storyline is was(which is true for a lot of canon in this series). I also think the concept of "moving forward" is still present in the game. Lots of characters have moved on from previous vices(and become better for it). Bison is more or less just a force of nature, as opposed to someone holding any of these characters back. If we're talking symbolically, he's basically just a really heavy handed concept of the "test" of life, which occur cyclical for everyone.

They should bring back Evil Ryu, tho. And I don’t mean as a seperate Kage “function”. Ryu is a much more interesting character when he has to struggle against the dark side of the Hadou. Having him just be a character at peace with himself isn’t as fun. It’s fine as a temporary thing, but eventually I want them to reintroduce that internal struggle, as it should be a lifelong fight imo, not something that is simply mastered and moved past. It’s more realistic and relatable too. Right now he feels like a Yang without the Yin.

tbh I had the same reaction until I thought about it for a bit. they've been leaning in on the whole she's still obsessed with him because she sees herself as having 'missed her chance' to kill him. the possibility of him being alive or being able to be brought back is the one chance she can think of to tie up that "loose end", presumably. she talks in the cutscene about how she doesn't care if shadaloo comes back because she'll just topple it again, etc., even though she didn't really have much of a hand in its fall to begin with. I think it's illogical from the perspective of like, anyone else, but woman has serious baggage & seems to have decided that going to therapy is illegal, and getting to kill bison -- if he is indeed not dead -- will fix all her problems. it probably won't, but hey, juri's a very normal and stable person who handles failure well, I think.

I understand fans of a character get pissed when the story kills them off, and companies getting cold feet because of that, but having franchises being stuck in a forever status quo for 30 years is annoying in its own right. ...As soon as a fiction is famous enough, nothing in it's world can ever really change. :/ That's one of the reasons I respect Guilty Gear so much : Ishiwatari and the team had much more balls in retiring/killing/completely redesigning characters than any other fighting game out there, and they somehow do this without pissing off the fans much at all. I wish the rest of the genre would take a few clues from them if that were at all possible.

I think thats because the only core characters we always got in GG were Sol, Ky and Mlillia, the rest of the cast always changed or was not garanteed, the try new things and characters, but SF took all the SF2 cast to alpha, made the movies and animations and took a long time to introduce the SF3 cast, so people got over attatched to the "core 8" from SF2.

Not only is that FANG's hat, but the way Foo is written makes it look exactly like his glasses. Double "o" is the lenses, and the cross in the "f" is the temple. I'm Filipino on my dad's side of the family. And I've ALWAYS wanted a street fighter character to represent the Philippines so I really hope that part is true. With that said though I never really cared for Bison so if he comes back I'm stoked for the people who like him, but I could take or leave that part. .... Also I liked Falke in V, I know she wasn't a major hit with a lot of the fan base but I liked her a lot and would like to see her back. I'd be curious to see what they would do to redesign her the same way they redesigned ed

Great, another World Warrior that no one will play. I sincerely doubt that Bison generates as much hype as some people say because historically he is a character very rarely chosen by people, boring to play and the truth is that as an antagonist he falls short in terms of characterization. If they bring him back, I hope for a remake of him like they did with Ken or Chunli, and only then can he be a popular pick.

I just thought it might be worth pointing out that the test subject you find in the test tube in the Shadaloo base *might be random. When I was playing the game prior to watching this video and went through the side mission. The test subject was someone completely different. (It was a dude using E-Honda's move set.) Not sure what might factor into which test subject falls out from the psycho power test tank thing, or if it's purely random. (Worth noting that Honda is one of the few master character I'd fully maxed out prior.) Cheers!

It took more than 30 years for Ryu to finally finish Bison just to make him return again, it took Tekken more than 20 years to finally get rid of Heiachi, it seems lazy to just bring those characters again instead of advancing the story.

It would be interesting if it was a fakeout. But given Rose's vision from SFV it very likely is Bison. I just hope they do something interesting with the guy. Like Bison with Amnesia or a slighty altered personality or new goals, maybe he's more spite and he just wants to destroy the world instead of conquering it. Something to spice it up.

He was my main in 5 and my secondary in ST and 4, and while I love his function, him returning feels like a slap on the face of not only the storymode of 5 but also his absence in 3. As M.Bison player I would be fine with a new character with his moves but I can't speak for everyone.

m. bison is inseperable from street fighter. the only games he doesnt appear was sf1 (but then again *nobody cares about sf1s story aside from ryu scarring sagat*) and sf3. where they just had "half blue, half red man in a speedo who can resurrect himself over and over and leads a cult." by the way, i doubt weve seen the last of any major villains. seth, gill, etc. they're all in the pool for potential dlc.

It's a way to quick to come to some conclusion if Bison would return although since you kinda skim off going through the documents which does have mentioned 1 point about someone of interest in Mexico that seems to be reviving a horse. And given some clues during both World Tour & arcade mode Dhalsim did sense some sort of power coming from a certain character name Lily, don't really know if she has any links to whats being on the document but we won't know for sure. And if Bison is to be quote alive it could be someone different maybe a reincarnation of him but as a different character (kinda sorta like Reina to Heihaichi in Tekken but that's a big IF).
