That painting of Bison on a horse is basically a famous painting of Napoleon with with Napoleon replaced with Bison. Also this route of giving Bison Amnesia allowed Capcom to have its cake and eat it too with regards to Bison and JP. Bison is in the game but doesn't need to take the spotlight away from JP because his Amnesia means that he doesn't have to take control of Shadowloo and thus JP can continue as the big bad.

While this is usually a valid point, Japan is essentially a wěstern nation at this point, with just a few holdouts of its original culture. This has been an ongoing process since the occŭpation after the wăr. Look at the media Japan creates now. Stuff that's clearly wěstern inspired and clearly made with a wěstern audience in mind, like Attack on Titan, or the Game of Thrones Final Fantasy that last launched. Miyazaki is one of the few people who still makes media with the least wěstern influence because he can remember his nation before occŭpation. You can bet the people who work at Capcom JP know about the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse and even the Darksiders game because they've made plenty of media that centers on Chrīstīan mythos.

As a Bison/Dictator main in SFV, of course I'm happy to see him return, though I'm going to miss his SFV move set. His Psycho Blast and Psycho Inferno were really useful moves, and Inferno gave him something to use when you couldn't charge. I also loved his V-Skill 1 when it was still a parry move, before it was turned into a bad reversal. But on the other hand, having a normal Psycho Crusher again is nice. But even if I'm happy to see him come back from a gameplay perspective, it's going to take a lot of explaining in the story.

During the extended version of the Season 2 trailer, there's a cutscene of him absorbing the Psycho Power from the abandoned lab stage. You can hear a voice scream "Inconceivable!" It's confirmed by Capcom that Bison is wielding Psycho Power. Bison wields this power in many colors throughout the years - shades of Green, Teal, Blue, and Purple. Only Street Fighter 5 had it as strictly purple. The struggle you speak of is likely tied to his damaged body making him struggle to wield his power without some pain.
@supersmashbro5966 ай бұрын
my thought is that m. bison was brought back too early and in a body that can no longer properly control the overwhelming amount of psycho power it's channeling. either shadaloo couldn't find a suitable replacement body or m. bison was simply impatient. he's actually giving me x6 sigma vibes. x5s sigma had his most carefully-orchestrated plan foiled. the damage from said defeat *really* did a number on him. to the point where when he was brought back in x6, it's less "him being the mastermind" and more "he was revived before he could properly regenerate himself, so some of the damage from his last battle remained." this is what happened with m. bison. he was brought back too early. the game is taking that thought to its extreme. and i love that.

With Bison having lost his memories they very well could draw more inspiration from FotNS if they wanted. Specifically the dichotomy between Kenshiro and Raoh could be used for Ryu and Bison. Kenshiro stands for spiritual peace while Raoh stands earthly peace. Raoh sought to end the chaos through subjugation so he's not 100% evil. Bison returning but without memories could set him up for having new motivations while still remaining a villain.

This new design of Bison reminds me of Megaman X4's portrayal of Sigma, which is sort of the start of a trend with Sigma's character. Sigma's final forms peaked in X3 and he gets more and more visually delapidated in each game afterwards. Starting with rags, then to an unfinished final body, then to being a corpse, then being in MMX7, and finally being demoted from final boss/main villain status and being unable to hold himself together. Sigma and Bison are already really similar characters who revive themselves in the same way, so I like that they went with this trend.
