I kind of disagree with him regarding the adoption rate of EV Car in Malaysia. He may be great at his job (reviewing cars) but kindly do not provide his personal views in a business radio station, we prefer verified facts rather than his personal views in such platform. His opinions on Low EV Car Adoption and why there are voices of "Skip EV Cars for now" 1. Malaysians are generally reluctant to conduct research and prefer spoon feed by media 2. Malaysians are generally more conservative in automobile landscape. My opinions - EV Cars used to be a rich man bungalow toy before the launch of BYD, and the upcoming Tesla that offer their fleets within RM100k-RM200k. - We are talking about a minimum of RM250,000-RM300,000 for any EV Cars before this. Hence don't expect a high adoption rate at this price due to Malaysia average income landscape. - EV Technologies are getting more common and the global market of EV is getting more competitive as well. From the premium players (Germans) to Mid Tier (Koreans) and now we have BYD that has some models that are playing in the Affordable market range. - Expect the prices of EV Cars to fall gradually based on that (disregard the Tax system of Malaysia), buying an EV Cars before 2023 kind of forcing the buyer to pay much higher premium price of being an early adopters. - Reasons of not pushing EV Cars by the majority have nothing to do with lack of research and knowledge in this segment of automotive. - Think of the infrastructure that we have for now. Yes, charging station is quite adequate in terms of traveling via the major highways in Malaysia. However, this doesn't fulfil the needs of mass majority that commute to work within Klang Valley. - Do remember that majority of us are working from 9-6 or probably 7.30am - to 8.30pm due to the jam. To spend another 30-45 mins traveling to charging stations and charge your car before and after your work shift will create more inconveniences to our daily life. EU can adopt that easily, due to their working culture and commuting time daily are significantly shorter. - Speaking of home charging, basically it's still only applicable for landed home in Klang Valley for now. Only the recent built mid-higher then condo provide the charging facilities and that also only come with limited charging bays (most of them are within 2-6 EV Charging bays per condo) that has more than 600-800 units (assuming 700-900 cars). Not sure how that gonna make sense if EV adoption rate suddenly shoot up. - None of very very limited access to charging infra in the older condos. Even if the EV Cars able to sell at 50k-70k to cater to B40/M40 segments, PPR/Low cost high rise buildings cant able to provide enough stations. WAIT this is getting too far, as we do not even have enough of parking for now before even going into Charging facilities topic in such residential area.

Another big issue is the charging time if you don't have the luxury of a home charging station. Very few of us can afford to wait 30-45 minutes for the car to be charged at public charger, or even longer if there is a queue. The mere thought of that makes me feel so frustrated already.

@@EddieTeo Yes agreed, at the end we all worried about the infrastructure availability and time taken (Charging + Queuing time). I guess most car enthusiasts have done enough research and decided not to go in EV YET, but definitely its the future. Or maybe hydrogen engine would be the future instead of EV ? At the end of the day, EV Vehicle itself is not a greener commuting medium if the power doesn't derive from green energy. Green/Carbon neutral is very a long chains.

Most Condos can't even come to an agreement to install charging pylons. Reasons they gave is cost to install pylongs, who will pay for the charges, costs to build new fire preventation system, etc. I guess companies that operate charging pylongs need to step in, but then the cost for EV owners will no longer be friendly.
@EddieTeo Жыл бұрын
@@EarthyLee The increasing cases of EV catching fire while charging don't help either. The Bomba won't approve the proposal. The condo management wouldn't want to be held responsible. Your neighboring ICE owner wouldn't want to park next to an EV being charged unattended. This is not a Malaysia-only issue, even those countries with very high EV adoption rate have no good solution to this dilemma.

I think he means the T20 Malaysian only. 😊😊 because mostly EV car are expensive and only T20 can afford. Maybe T20 are too busy earning money, no time research ma 😂😂 T20 ma... don't play play 😂😂 Also T20 open minded sikit, don't be too conservative, help our automotive market abit ma 😁😁 buy some EV cars to support la

The most critical problem in Malaysia Johor Bahru is traffic jams, no wounder is BEV or patrol vehicles or how good your vehicles if don't have, good traffic & good road on the road how good is the vehicle what's the point?

AC EV charger 1-Phase from 3.7kW to 7.4kW, 3-Phase from 4.1kW to 22kW 你家住公寓一个单位才4kw, 单层排屋 5kw,你的充电桩差不多是一间屋子的用量或好几间屋子的电用量。 马来西亚大多数的发电站都是煤炭发电,更不用说,除非你可以用爱来发电😂
If, you want to charge you BEV vehicle @ your landed home you need to install a EV vehicle charging stand that can supply 6.6/22KW depends is on AC or DC charging points, not clear the Malaysian power will charge you how much per KW? Because the charger standing points, had a safety features to control & cut out the supply when the vehicle is charged! This is, to prevent cause of fire!
how many ppl can afford to stay in landed in klang valley in order to charge EV at ease? dont even talk abt condo and apartment charging stations. for a 600 units apartment blocks, how many charging stations should be there where almost every household has a car? moreoever fast charging is not recommended for EV battery. dilemma of driving EV for most malaysians.

其实电动车就好像当年 Apple iphone 这样,缺点永远被粉丝放小甚至完全不提。讲真这样很无奈,但也是人之常情。
