I've been looking at the M-Uno for some time now, but wishing it had absolute encoders, this is everything I want in a mount. Are they available now or still in development?

The M-due with absolute encoders on both RA and DEC axis is available for the pre-order.

Wow this looks awesome, one questions with the majority of mounts out there the payload is generally recommended to be half for astrophotography... is it the same here? I mean for the 25kg show, would I be able to load Astro gear up to 12.5kgs to obtain the best performance? Or has this been considered... the 25kgs is a good number but if I have to half this I would have to go to a bigger option. Can you share more Tech details? Thanks

Avalon single arm mount, has been designed to be balanced without counterweights or with a small amount of weight. This can be possible thanks to the DEC arm position placed below the RA top axis, having at the same time the possibility to move it up and down in several positions. That’s why the recommended payload can be higher then half. Furthermore, there are also users that achieved good results with setup higher then the mount stated payload capability, as it is possible to read on several reviews available on the web.

A fast equatorial mount without counterweights? That's really impressive. Does it automatically lock in place when power is disrupted in both axis motors?

Yup!

@@ZackWolfMusic Awesome! I think I've just fallen in love with this EQ mount 😍 I'm going to wait patiently til they've smoothed out the early teething problems in the model. Once they've done so this is definitely going to be part of my gear. 🤩 _Clear skies!_

When the power is disrupted both the mount axis will be blocked.

So I guess there no meridian flip issue.
@avaloninstruments3 жыл бұрын
The M-due has been designed putting together both the M-zero and M-uno concepts, in order to avoid the Meridian Flip. However, in some cases, with particularly long refractor, pointing objects on North near the Meridian, the Meridian Flip could be required.

@@avaloninstruments I've seen that statement a few times now "The M-due has been designed putting together both the M-zero and M-uno concepts" Can you explain what that means? I thought the M-zero was just a smaller version of the M-Uno? Are there things they each do which are significantly different? Thanks!
@avaloninstruments3 жыл бұрын
@@JethroXP further then dimensions, another difference between M-uno and M-zero is that on the smaller mount, is it possible to move the DEC arm in 6 position toward the RA axis by reversing the lateral L brackets, as you can see on the following gif www.avalon-instruments.com/images/prodotti/m-zero/m-zero-equatorial-mount-6-position.gif and on the M-zero User manual page 21. www.avalon-instruments.com/support-2/support/file/39-m-zero-user-manual-2-0-4 Also on the M-due will be possible to reverse the L lateral brackets.
