It is actually based on a comic. Great video, though I do disagree. It has a really sloppy and messy story, but that's not really why I think its a great movie. It was really entertaining and I liked the characters. Your perspective is absolutely right, it makes no goddamn sense. But I really loved the insanity of the movie, it feels good to let loose and not have to dig through intense stories all the time. I never tried to understand the story, mostly due to the fact is makes no sense, and I think from that perspective the movie is a failure. Nut sometimes for me, I just want to be entertained, and MFKZ did that. That's just my thoughts on it.

In a way it kind of reminds me of another 4 letter anime of a similar vein, F.LC.L. Both shows are short, insane, stunningly beautiful shows meant to put the visuals at the forefront. Both are quick and a have a facade of a much deeper story going on that dangle all these highly interesting sub plots, characters, and organizations without really ever digging into them because, well, there just isn't enough time to do so. I spent so many years of my adolescence trying to uncover all the secrets of FLCL discussing it with others on a fan forum. After so long and finally just running out of anything meaningful to discuss I realized that there WEREN'T answers and it was probably meant to be that way. It makes me appreciate MFKZ a little bit more. That said, I think FLCL lands on the emotional beats WAY more successfully than MFKZ. I used to watch the scene where Noata embraces Haruko in tears in the last episode over and over again because, as a teen just getting into my tumultuous and confusing coming of age years it resonated with me so deeply. The soundtrack fills me with emotions I can't even began to describe and in a way I think it, as well as the rest of the show, really captures the weird, moody, deep on the surface but thin as a puddle angst of coming of age in the first place. It was something really special (and I'm said they won't just leave well enough alone and leave the series with the dignity it deserves but that's another story) and a really important anime, even if just for what Gainax would learn from experimenting with their new animation tools. I can still really appreciate MFKZ as a phenomenally beautiful movie. The characters a fun and really unique. The story ALMOST lands but just totally blows it at the end but it's a fun ride while it lasts. It's just a little harder for me to give it a pass on a lot of this stuff when there is such a shining example of pulling this kind of thing off already. Still glad I watching it.

6:16 it could be argued that angelino is frozen slowly because his mother was a human, as in he was made from actual people mashing pissers, unlike the other hybrids that were frozen. Luna, on the other hand, while being a hybrid, has a lot more human traits, which could include being warm-blooded, explaining why she only needs a coat

My problem with the film is that the main leads sound exactly the same, and say the same things. I get that Vince is more cautious and Amgelino is more driven, but if they were having a conversation and I had my eyes closed, I couldn't tell you who was speaking. And yes, I have seen the movie, still really good.

Guillaume "Run" Renard, the creator of the MFKZ comics, was given an hour and a half constraint to fit his series into, which unfortunately resulted in a very clunky storyline. I was still fond of the movie since the action scenes were really entertaining and I think the plot was overall decent. But I really wish Run was given more time than he got. If he had two and a half hours, or even three hours, he could have delved more into the characters as well as the worldbuilding. Maybe then, it wouldn't have been such a cluttered and sometimes contradictory film. Better yet, it should have been a series, so Run could take pauses in between episodes to plan out the world and characters and expand more on them. But sadly, that hour and a half window was Guillaume's only chance to have his comic recognized worldwide. Now there are rumors of a potential sequel film, though I doubt they hold much weight given the circumstances. But in all honestly, I do hope MFKZ does return. But I hope it's in the form of a series since that format would fit the comics vastly better.

Watch it and loved it. Rewatch it, and pay attention to the biblical references. Thought it was lame until I noticed the Jesus sign in the payphone scene when they call Willy and he is being held hostage. The second time around, I kept looking for biblical references, and boy, are there a whole lot. On a meta level, it seems to put the spirit of religion and humanity under a microscope, not in a physical way, but metaphysical one. Hell, even when they get to the " second house" and watch the news, and gind out they are terrorists, 666 is part of the number they are told to call. For someone talking about being subjective, you where rather objective and critisizing it's blue pill elements, while not even commenting on the red pill type metaphysical elements. Rewatch it with a less literal mindset man. Changes the whole thing.

I watched this movie in June of last year, it's a French production from a French comics of the same name. (I'm French btw) The animation was great but the whole thing was very forgettable. Also you should watch "Lascars", it's also a French cartoon movie but way better.

It's hard for me to give this one a review because I suspect its a "fan service film". Its based on a comic by the same name, which I haven't read. Which leads me to suspect that its like FF7 Advent Childern, Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me, Serenity and Gantz:0. All of those movies were made specifically for fans who read the orginal manga, watch the show or played the original video game they were based on. For example Serenity probably dosen't make any sense for those who didn't watch Fire Fly. To them it theres not enough explained and they have no connection with characters, but if you fan of FireFly it was an awesome movie. We got to see these characters again in a story that only the fans would get. Its like being part of club with a "secret handshake" that only members would know.. They didn't care about non fans who were unfamiliar with the original source. So fans loved those movies but there not good introductions for people who are new to these characters. I get the impression that MFKZ is doing the same thing. As someone who didn't read the comics I feel like my review can only be surface level at most. I loved the art, animation, character designs and, soundtrack but the story is to hard for me to follow. But then again, this movie probably was made just for fans and I'm not part of that club. I don't know the "secert handshake" that fans of the source would know. In short. I can say it fails at winning a wider audience, but I have no idea if this works as a fans services movie since I don't know the source.
@ahcestmarrant43443 жыл бұрын
I agree, MFKZ is definitely more of a fan service film. I've read the comics and I think that reading them makes the movie's plot more clear.

If you guys haven't noticed, most movies today seems like they either make no sense or is not the normal entertainment. However, it seems obvious the writers are forcing the viewer to really understand the message. A good example, is the latest matrix film. Movie had decent action but the story didn't make much sense to the avg viewer we were expecting to be entertained like the original matrix films. But clearly the message is we are sheep that are asleep within a program and we are not even realizing it. Obviously there is much more of a deeper message in that film.
