The upper part of her witch form is a knight, which ties in well with Sayaka's wish to be a warrior of justice and protect others from witches. The lower part of her witch form is a mermaid, and as said before is more than likely because of how her own story resembles that of the little mermaid.

At the moment Sayaka discovers that despite being a Magical Girl, she was no longer a human, she was practically a walking corpse, a zombie that didn't feel any bodily pain. Kyubey did that for them to fight the witches without feeling pain. Even being stabbed by Kyoko's spear, Sayaka wouldn't feel such unbearable pain as when Kyubey puts her paw on her Soul Gem. That time, Sayaka feels the real pain. She couldn't declare herself to Kyosuke because she said that she could never hug or kiss him with that dead body. Not to mention that in the third movie, Kyosuke was always busy training for the recitals, and even though Hitomi understood, she was frustrated, she wanted at least a little more attention from him. After all, does Kyosuke's life revolve around always playing in recitals? That's why he and Hitomi couldn't find time for dates.

One of the most tragic moments in Madoka - and this song itself is elegant, but terrifying to me, because it's like you can feel Sayaka's grief - the whole theme is like one giant crashing wail of despair. =(
@TruthinessChibiOtaku11 жыл бұрын
Everytime Homura goes back, she's forced to act in certain ways/warps the cosmic karma so that it makes everyone hate her/distanced from her. I think this also affects Sayaka's fate...because after timeline 3 Madoka would always contract after Sayaka's demise. In addition, in timeline 3, Homura feels visibly guilty for not being able to save Sayaka...and we also don't see HOW she despaired in that timeline. In Different Story, Madoka revives her and the three of them fight Walpurgis.
@crimsonmettaton44929 жыл бұрын
I think that this song is really about how Sayaka remembers her life before, and regretting her wish, possibly. And her feelings for Kyosuke. And how Hitomi stole him.
@fluffhead67579 жыл бұрын
Well, Hitomi was actually pretty honorable about the way she did things. She couldn't have known how much it hurt her friend.
@MichaelRayWegner9 жыл бұрын
Ven'aranar Angel And that's why hitomi is such a bad friend. She didn't even take a moment to consider all of Sayaka's feelings and gave her 'best friend' an ultimatum and that sent her to her grave.
@fluffhead67579 жыл бұрын
***** That's debatable considering she gave Sayaka a chance and Kyosuke first, though the time limit was a bit small in my opinion. However, Hitomi couldn't have known about Sayaka's predicament since she was never told. Just the fact that she gave her friend a chance to try with the guy she liked first was considering her emotions.
@MichaelRayWegner9 жыл бұрын
Well the whole magical girl aspect here can be thrown out. It doesn't matter if she knew or not, you never ever give your friend that type of ultimatum. She shoulda known that by how much Sayaka watched him that she probably already didn't have the confidence to tell him. I know in Hitomi's mind she was being civil, and mature, but she went about it all wrong. She was cruel, and selfish to her friend.
@fluffhead67579 жыл бұрын
***** I think we can agree that though Hitomi tried to be fair and civil, it certainly wasn't the best way she could've gone about things.
you're right, but in the same episode where Hitomi gave Sayaka this chance to confess to Kyosuke, she says this to Madoka while crying: "Hitomi is going to steal Kyosuke from me, but there's nothing I can do. dead, I'm a zombie. I could never hug you with that dead body, I could never kiss you with those cold lips."

Its even more heart-wrenching how damn sudden and well...human, her break down is. She has absolutely no defining event in her life that would cause her to suffer like she does except that she's too damn stubborn and battered down with the weight of the world. And then to be hurt that she's no longer human anymore, an existential crisis like that is totally realistic. She probably hated Kyoko and Homura because she didn't want to become like them, but knew it would happen.

That was the story Goethe wrote based off the Little Mermaid...thought he was before Hans Christian Anderson though (of course we know that Goethe is significant in PMMM because of him being the author of Faust). But I think its the same or at least similar in a bunch of the legends. But yes, KyouSaya certainly has that connotation in justifying it as a pairing. Urobuchi said that Sayaka will never be happy with Kyousuke...we don't know if that means she and Kyoko are destined for one another.

@TruthinessChibiOtaku11 жыл бұрын
There are other ways to interpret that though...one of the reasons actually comes from Kyoko's backstory in Different Story and drama CD 3. Throughout those stories/continuities, it's heavily implied that she wished to save Sayaka and decommission her as a magical girl because she abandoned Mami after her parents died/was not there when Charlotte killed her, and feels a heavy failure over it (DS makes this even more apparent). She wishes to save Sayaka to prove she's able to save someone.

+Javi Gonsalves I always took this song alongside of how they first encounter her. She appears much like an audience member more than anything else. A countess that has her own orchestra to watch play whenever she wants. She distracts herself in the music, and when she finds that someone is attempting to break her fantasy, she retaliates by attacking, screaming in hatred, and demanding them to leave her alone. After all, she wanted to escape reality in her attempt to hide from Kyosuke moving on with Hitomi and desperate to cling onto her happiest moments in her mind, she created a labyrinth where he would play for her forever.

Great arrangement, though I must say her fall from grace was much more tragic in the movies, now that I've seen them. The impact it left on me was quite jarring. Do watch them if you get the chance. Sayaka is my favorite character, and her transformation into Oktavia is the thing about this show that broke me the most.
@TruthinessChibiOtaku11 жыл бұрын
However, its not that wish alone that makes her fall in love with her, but merely the fact that once she saw the selflessness in Sayaka's heart reflected in her own, she could no longer lie to herself about how similar they were and how they could be happy if they didn't fail one another even in death. That aside, I'm not a hardcore shipper of this pairing probably because KyouMami in Different Story, but looking at it from this perspective does show that I support the pairing fully.

They never knew it used to be a magical girl. Kyuubey said at one point that "Even Mami never knew" (referring to the fact magical girls become witches once their soul gem is fully corrupted). And because mami didn't know that, thus Madoka and Sayaka doesn't realize it either.

@MarlyFlowerXI Clearly you missed the point of the anime if you are saying this. That was the point, the heartwarming part is what MADE her death so much more horrible...and at the same time meaningful. It sets the tone, the pace, and lets you know that this isn't a simple show, but a group of girls set off to fight Eldridge horrors.

I have a problem. I don't ship Kyoko and Sayaka (yes, I'm aware they're in love, but that's not always enough for a relationship to last). I'm not saying what they have isn't special. Quite the opposite, their bond is one that should be protected at all costs... But when I try to imagine them on an actual relationship... I just can't do it. Sayaka is a knight who takes lawful justice seriously and can only see half the glass full (I know she matured, but she was still pretty hostile towards Homura, at the very least she could have considered the fact the Incubators were now under check and arranged some sort of deal, Homura's Labyrinth is based on self-hatred after all). Kyoko is a priest who saw both sides of the divine spectrum and has the freedom to choose how she evolves. Because of that, she has a more neutral outlook on life. And while she does care for her friends and will try to be less selfless for their sake... On her own, she takes a more... practical approach on battle. One that she doesn't see much problem with, given how it was this imperfect world that took her family from her, by forcing her into that wish. She demands both sides of a deal to be either happy or miserable. But one can not have more than the other. It's a matter of earned equality. However, I'm aware how wrong this outlook on their relationship might be, so I need someone to help me believe in this ship.
