Cool radio. The grill on the back looks like a car speaker grill from the 60s/70s.

38 stinking screws holding that cabinet on. Well done and very factual video. I've worked on about 20 of those and they are certainly tricky sometimes. That said, the modulation developed on that with the push pull modulator rivals the Tram D 201.

Only radio I own that is louder than my DAK Mark X is my Golden Eagle MK IVA & then my TRAM D201A is right behind the DAK.

I have a DAK X That is at the repair shop right now. And has absolutely no RF out however it is showing modulation. The guy should have a back to me this week. I’ve had it for around 10 years. I love my Dak wouldn’t trade it for anything

Paid $150 for mine several years ago with the matching Black Astatic D-104 desk microphone. It is pretty near MINT. I am blessed to own it. AWESOME CB in my opinion. I like it as my SSB radio over my TRAM D201A but do prefer my Browning Golden Eagle MK IVA for AM. All of them are great CB Base Radios in my opinion even when so many hate the DAK Mark X I love mine & don't care if anyone else likes it at all. {:>)

Top reason for high end soldering equipment like JBC and PACE is that they have the thermal response and power to operate at lower temperatures, like 50C lower, than cheap irons.

Well clearly most of these companies did not care about the service of the unit latter in life. I doubt the people that made that board in Korea had no idea 4+ decades later people would still be using these let alone restoring them! I am sure they had to trial fit everything during development and had to know it was a PIA to work on.
@buckaroobonsi5556 жыл бұрын
I have heard it is a clone of Cybernet but made in Korea instead of Japan. I have always wanted to get one and actually put a real Cybernet board in one! I have let many of them go buy on auction houses for cheap. Now that I want one to play with the prices has been insanely highly lately!

Any American made CB transceivers, Wouldn't it be nice to create a modern version with microprocessor control of the synthesizer and a modern DSP based transceiver board.
@1OFGODSOWN5 жыл бұрын
NO it would be a POS just like the CRAP they build Today.It is a far better radio as it was designed & if it had been changed then making the receiver be tubes as well would have given it far better rejection. The New radios are pure GARBAGE & drift all of the band because they are Cheap TRASH. I will keep my Old School DAK Mark X over any CB made in the last 25 years or longer.

If you heat the feed through on the trace side, will it transfer enough heat to repair the component side?
@mikesradiorepair6 жыл бұрын
It can heat the solder enough to melt but you will probably end up with a dry/cold solder joint. The old solder is oxidized and contaminated after several decades.

I hate that so much, the people who have these loud radios that bleed all over and sound like complete crap. Not to mention they say stuff that doesn't even make sense. If you are going to transmit say something that makes sense at least and have a clean signal.

I wish you would show the wattage output on the old radios you tune up.
@mikesradiorepair4 жыл бұрын
If it's a CB radio it's aligned to factory standards. 4 watts AM and 12 watts SSB.
@w.rustylane56504 жыл бұрын
This is why I always try to run a clean audio radio. I'm like you, what good is a radio if you cannot even understand what another person is transmitting. If I want more power I'll just hook up my linear amp but still with not more than 100 % modulation and only using a power mic turned only about half the way up. If I cannot be understood then what's the sense?

If I could only own One Base CB Radio it would be my DAK Mark X.It works great on AM & SSB & is an Audio Monster on Transmit.It is not quiet as loud as a Golden eagle MK IVA on AM but it is great on SSB & the MK IVA SUCKS on SSB as do any Golden Eagle.I even prefer it over my TRAM D201A.If his friend was just a CB Operator he is NOT a SK.A SK is a Dead Amateur Radio Operator because you don't use a Key on the CB just on Amateur Radio.He is a Dead CBer not a SK.
@1OFGODSOWN5 жыл бұрын
The Term Silent Key has nothing to do with a CB Radio since a Key (CW Key) is NOT used on the CB Radio. I have been a CB Operator since 1965 & I understand that & also as a Ham Operator myself & others have an issue with someone who never was an Amateur Radio Operator being classified as a SK. CB is not,never has been,& never will be Amateur Radio & that is just a fact of life.(Wikipedia: When referring to a person, the phrase Silent Key and its abbreviation SK indicates an amateur radio operator who is deceased.) Amateur Radio operator Wikipedia) (Silent key (plural silent keys) (Wiktionary: A ham radio operator who has died.) {:>)
@mikesradiorepair5 жыл бұрын
Since the owner that died was a amateur radio operator he is a silent key.
