This is transferred 1/2 tone sharp. It is distorted and is certainly not how Harshaw and Windgassen sounded “live”. All these KZbin posts which are transferred at the wrong speed/pitch do tremendous disservice to great singers. 😡

Anyone know if this was the Met recording? Conductor? Great singers, terrible recording. Sounds like it was recorded in a closet.

This is a live performance/broadcast. The MET recordings of old were all studio, at least I believe. P.S. The Norns are really, really good.

Superb Windgassen as usual. Nice surprise Margaret Harshaw ( she lacks breath, though, where is that endless "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeil" of Varnay or Nilsson? Windgassen has to sing by himself )

By himself? Get your hormones checked, dearie. Not her best "C," but it's there. Endless? Neither one this time. Other performances? Who knows. What she does bring is a warm, voluminous sound that makes B a formidable woman.
