Incredibly intelligent and mature. It takes a LOT to be an immigrant, juggle two cultural words, and stick to your guns so fiercely and with passion. Maya is a star. She really is. Also the humble she maintains..amazing..

> Incredibly intelligent and mature. She is 42 years old. People on her youtube interviews keep complimenting her in the comments for being 'mature' and Ive never seen someone compliment her on being 'so grown up' lmao
@bizarrpeeps6 жыл бұрын
@@bernadettsimon1116 Yeah I know..many people, 20 or 80, can be mature or immature..i just meant aware of the mechanisms of art, fame and politics, and knows her priorities and doesn't give in to pop expectations, regardless of her age..since when she first came out she was insanely mature

This was such an amazing interview to hear and watch! The journalist/interviewer clearly did his homework on M.I.A. as a popstar, Maya as a person and a refugee, the documentary itself, the civil war in Sri Lanka and is also very aware of the treatment it all receives from mass media. Bravo!

It was certainly better than the interview at Oxford ! Have you seen it ? It was the most asinine interview I have ever heard Juarez. What has happened to students ? Do they not have minds anymore ?

If she spoke out in this day and age she would be put on a pedestal. But she should have always been looked up to because she never lied she spoke up on things that needs to be spoken about. But they tried to shush her because she’s an immigrant and she was saying things people didn’t wanna hear. Even her music has so much meaning to it but people like mumble rap trash and not listen to her stuff. Her music was always very different and new. And people were annoyed about her verse in a Travis Scott song not knowing how amazing she is

Saw her documentary & Maya afterwards as she did a live Q&A after screening in Hollywood, CA. It was a great and very inspirational documentary, and the interview after was eye opening to hear her story more in depth and in person. Good Job Maya

Excellent interview, almost got emotional at 8:30 when he is talking about the trust between them. It is good that she did not have initial access, I would love to see her do a part 2 to the doc that is more visual w/ her own shots & editing included 😍
