We have fallen behind because our education system has fail to produce engineers with actionable skills and critical thinking... instead what we produce is a bunch of young people very good at scoring exams... do you recall any of your course mate having aspiration and working on his individual tech project (not related or requested by any lecturer)? No right? Because people only gotten into STEM because they score well, it's all about ego, nothing to do with passion in technology/engineering and what not. People just want face, and now they graduated, all they think about is money.

@@GabrielKwang Malaysia had good and great engineers but they doesn't stay in Malaysia. They had been brain drained to developed countries. Some stayed in Malaysia but can't found a job matched their capabilities as there is big gap in Malaysia industry and leading edge technology in world.

我倒在在很多数码相机、电脑硬盘、内存条或者CPU上看到过made in malaysia 或者 assembly in malaysia的标志。
This will be extremely difficult as our country STEM education only excel at producing students excel at scoring exams instead of students with aspiration, actionable skills, and critical thinking... remember attending university where your fella course-mate acting like a dog just to get exam tips from senior/lecturer?
With Malaysia it is better to not count your chickens until they hatch. Their officials and policy sway as the wind blows.

Malaysia is 6th export (World 10%) of Semi-Conductor supply chains in Penang. Malaysia has EV car supply chains in Tg Malim. Malaysia has Cyberjaya with Alibaba and Tenscent.
The main selling point- cheap salary. Ideal haven for those big tech capitalists.

more than 10 years in semiconductor, as a process engineer in one of the backend processes for leaded product. from the time i started, many already said that this will be obsolete soon. because we have BGA, flip chip, etc now. however, i think it will survive because it is the cheapest interconnect technology.

1、中美貿易戰後進入的外資企業中陸資佔比? 2、大馬政府對於相關領域的人才培育方案? 中美科技貿易戰後多的是從Made in China變成Made by China的例子,尤其是那些友岸外包的國家;大馬的優勢?
Disappointed to read negative comments from quite a handful of Taiwanese and even Malaysians. We all know that Taiwan is already world leading country in semicon and Malaysia is way behind. Even if Malaysia were to catch up a bit, is it gonna threaten Taiwan? Why all the negativity? And Malaysians should try to encourage each others to buck up rather than putting down ourselves... anyway, appreciate this channel for the positive message. It's always good to support each others especially Asians, while the Westerners are looking down on us all anyway

Malaysia is lacking behind the tech business because our STEM education only good at producing students excel in scoring exam instead of having actionable skills and critical thinking, how many of your friends have the aspiration to attempt making their own thing? their own browser, their own chatgpt, their own game, their own microchip, their own PC, their own PC OS, their own car, bla bla bla? How many? Instead all we ever care about is how many As our children score and how much money our children is making and make comparison with other people children... Do not blame the gov and what not, all the knowledge is out there (well not exactly there, still stagnant around 20 years ago)... All we care about is if stock price go up go down, what game come next, what movie come next, how many holiday, is it time yet to exit office, what stupid hit topic been stirring up by the politician lately, what new phone coming out, etc etc etc... we just love do business, buy and sell, we just consume consume consume and consume and never bother to try make something For the ones that did make something probably unable to scale up due to money issue, ah, these you go ahead blame the policy bla bla bla and what not but I doubt how many actually made anything worthwhile... from my working experience, we really just good admin people, doing managerial work while leaving the heavy lifting to foreign experts and worse still we act like a boss chasing output.... do you see more and more foreigners working in tech sector?
