Great video on how to misuse and destroy punches, as well as potentially damaging a pistol. Call a gunsmith who has proper tools and basic knowledge.
@johngrunwell24122 жыл бұрын
I’ve been doing all my own sights for many years, and there is a gunsmith protocol always involved. PINS and SIGHTS are removed Left to Right, and Right to Left to reinstall. Nothing is better than a quality Sight-Pusher as it saves the gun-frame and finish (no-marring) and the same on sights esp. with Tritium veils or integrant make ups. And, I Mic all my centers. I’ve run many fiber optics none have ever broken, but their frames can be damaged. Solvents are the biggest problem. As a Note: The HI VIS H3 sights out perform the TFO or TFX by TRUGLO as the fiber optics on the HI VIS are not buried into the mount as TRUGLO does. I had the TFX-PRO on my little G42, but was very dissatisfied with the optic performance in bright-sunshine and when I ducked under any kind of shade. NO PROBLEMS with the HI VIS H3 sights, and I might install them on my G23/5 or G19/4.

S&W claims that the sights are non-directional and can go either way to correct minor left-right alignment errors. I was correcting my sons new S&W M&P Shield Plus that grouped great @ 10 yards but shot 2 inches to the left and whole E carp I thought the rear sight might have had a drop of solder on it. It took several HEAVY wacks with a steel tipped flat wide screwdriver that fit the grove well and I finally moved it about 1/2 mm, put the set screw back in and will have to retest grouping.

It's very easy, even for a novice like me to look up on google the way to change dovetail sights and as another responder said the sight is designed to be removed and installed from the ejection port side, even on Henry rifles, and while I haven't finished watching this video, I suspect that this sight changer is going to use a mallet and punch to install the new high vis sights which has a very good chance of ruining the new sights. For these reasons, I gave a thumbs down. If you're not sure what you're doing, there's no shame in asking or researching before you dive in. Check information from more than one source, just like any other NEWS or other info you want to make sure is correct. Sources say to use a sight pusher on high vis or night sights.
