Robert, I'd agree. I was never a Crüe fan. Once I heard Sixx's shitty rhyme "red lips, finger tips" the band was off my radar. But then a friend took me to a Feelgood show at the Forum (LA) back in the day. Ended up in my top 5 rock shows of all time. Tommy had a lot to do with it (upside-down cruising through the nose-bleed section!), but I was rather blown away at Mick's skill. I really had no idea he was So Damned Good!

@Robert I’ve not done the deep dive into Mars’ playing, but I think something that separates him from several of his contemporaries is his affinity for the blues. He’s not just a shredder, he plays with soul. I’m a mediocre hobbyist guitarist, and while I can appreciate the hell out of the talent and precision and dedication to the instrument it takes to shred...gimme a soulful bluesy pitch-bend any day. That’s what hits you in the gut and makes the instrument emotional. It seems Mars found an original way to put that all together. The guy rips.

Dr. Feelgood was released on this day 8/28/89. It's the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. Dr. Feelgood topped the Billboard 200 chart, making it the band's only album to claim this position as of 2020. It was the first album Mötley Crüe recorded after their quest for sobriety & rehabilitation in 1989. In addition to being Mötley Crüe's best selling album, it is highly regarded by music critics & fans as the band's best studio album. This was also the band's last album to be recorded with lead singer Vince Neil until the 1997 album Generation Swine.

I’m 13, this is the music I enjoy. Rock from the 70s and 80s. It’s one of the things that me and my dad really like. Me and him jam out to this on the way to sport events on the way to school etc. I’ve been listening to this type of music since the day I was born and I’m gonna keep listening to it till I die. I’m going to show this to my kids and grand kids. I hope that this type of rock lives on for ever. 🤟 Rock On

That's gotta be incredible in this era to be just discovering this band. I'm a bit jealous of you all. I've been listening to Crue since 1983. I've heard them all about a million times and I could probably recite the lyrics from the first 5 albums from memory. I've seen them in concert 3 times and back in the 80s I was probably the biggest motley fan on planet earth. They were the standard by which I judged all other music. If they didn't sound like motley then they sucked and I hated them. Fortunately my musical taste is a bit more diverse and refined by this stage in life but I still listen to old school Crue and Shout at the Devil is probably my favorite motley album but Primal Scream is probably my favorite motley song. Thanks for listening , keep rocking, best of luck and always remember, We're Motley Fucking Crue 🤘😈🤘

Nothing wrong with that. Just ignore the "I was here before" elitist mentality, it's stupid. The "rock is out of date and not cool anymore" mentality is equally stupid. If you like something, listen to it. Blast it.

One of the few bands of the hair metal era that at least tried to still sound heavy, even if they weren't always metal. They tried to stay somewhat heavy and somewhat metal, which is more than 90% of those bands did, and so they get my respect, if not my adoration.

The first night they were introduced by my friend Sam Kinison. Born in 86 but raised on VH1 so I feel like I lived the whole decade but that’s a lie. I wish I was a early-mid 70s baby so I could’ve enjoyed this era to the fullest. The 90s were awesome but almost just a residual of how dope the 80s really were. It was such a high that the 90s had to maintain some type of cool the following decade.
