I think you will find the first locomotive using AC (alternating current, not alternative) motors - at least one that worked - was built in Switzerland. Kalman Kando invented the first electric locomotive with three-phase AC asynchronos motors.

The 424s were coal burners by design. In the early 60's some engines were converted to burn oil, like this one.

Örüljön, hogy legalább ilyen gőzöst láthatott élőben. Mert mi itt az ország keleti részén az itt élők ilyet már nem láthatunk. Csak a dunántúliak és a Budapestiek számára vannak ezek a nosztalgia vonatok fenntartva. Az ország többi részén lakók le vannak tojva.
