50-overs cricket always >>> 20-overs cricket for people who understand cricket... ODI is the skills format in white-ball cricket...

Well said! Cricket has spread across the globe at an unprecedented level- something all cricket lovers want to see materialise. Although the quantity of cricket has skyrocketed, likewise the quality of cricket has spiralled miserably. I think the catalyst for this unfortunate state was the IPL. Back in the day, we loved/ admired/ respected each cricket team for the individual styles, characters, personalities, and skills of players which made it exciting to see how they compete and who comes on top. It was these individuals that made us love the teams. But with the introduction of leagues, a player would play for one team today and for another next season, and with the prospect of tons of money, passion has been replaced by economic gain. Wit, skill, sportsmanship, and most importantly, passion, has just disappeared from modern cricket. Sad! I was lucky to have witnessed as a youngster cricket matches that were made vibrant by the likes of such greats as: Saeed Anwar Shahid Afraid Wasim Akram Waqar Younis Curtly Ambrose Courtney Walsh Richie Richardson Brian Lara Ricky Pointing Mark Taylor Glenn McGrath Waugh brothers Sanath Jayasuriya Aravinda de Silva Arjuna Ranatunga Muttiah Muralitharan Sachin Tendulkar Mohammed Azarudeen Rahul David Saurav Ganguly Nathan Astle Chris Cairns Stephen Fleming Chris Harris Alec Stewart Darren Gough Nick Knight Lance Klusner Alan Donald Shaun Pollock Pat Symcox Etc

Maybe instead of blaming the sport we should look at ourselves too. What lead to more ODIs and T20s. Lower views due to lower concentration span over time. It would be fair to say today’s cricket reflects where the world is right now. Back then you would be present watching an entire ODI, speaking to a maximum of 3-5 people. Today you watch and chat to 10+ people. You don’t connect with the game. Another thing is that bowlers and batters have evolved over time. Runrates have increased. Players can learn more techniques from home at their own pace.

The second to last ball hit the rope on the full and it was a 6..but the umpires went upstairs and it was ruled a 4. The scores should have been tied. The ICC had to change the rules after this match, and now a ball that hits the boundary on the full is a 6

Wish they bring back the triangular series. 50 over cricket used to be the shit back then. Not this 1 on1 series can predict the winner before it starts. That's why no one is interested in 50 over cricket anymore.

Like to see this kind of jersey in forth coming world Cup 2023 as a pattern is uniformly for all the participant nation rather than different design
@HISXLNC012 күн бұрын
Those days of triangular torunamenrs, and those 4 nation, or sometimes 5 nation tournaments, when the excitement was not only for the matches but also for what style of jerseys would be given to all teams by the organisers, are all over. Now no excitement left in cricket tournaments, except maybe the WCs. 😢

I liked the older format of tri series , where there was a feel of competition in the tournamnet , nowadays it is not continued due to money mindedness, this was the beuty of one day cricket , nowadays we dont see

Some of the best ever ODI games in the 90s/early 00s in the Aussie triseries Now we play only boring 3/5 match ODI series with inferior teams hidden behind a paywall and all the money gets pumped into the farce that is BBL
@SS-ge3mn24 күн бұрын
@@redwhiteandblueblood the tri series is doscontinued i guess is the stadiums that dont host the home team matches have low turnout of people to come watch the games as a result the series only host games with the home team , everything nowadays have become a matter of money

This the cricket I use to enjoy those days. Today's cricket is absurd, absolutely driven by Money as players from every country is looking for million dollar contracts from Twenty20 franchisee and Tv commercials.
