i had to fix the rear sight on my universal m1, and i didn't want to buy the tool because i'm not rich- so i just put it in a vise, wrapped in cloth, and then hammered the sight out. it somehow worked perfectly. thank you for showing how the tool works, as that inspired me to do this unholy act, which worked. somehow.

Do you have the tool to remove a rear sight from a universal m1 carbine?

I don’t - the carbines I build for myself and others are ww2 specific and use after market tools (because the 1940’s actual tools cost a fortune) - I have used demilled parts to practice on until confident.
