Excellent work Sir. I was giving the Ol' carbine a clean and accidentally dropped the operating slide. Needless to say the pin went one way and the spring went the other. After recovering both, I found your video and Bob's your uncle! Couldn't have done it without yah. Cheers.

I haven't tried this but I'm planning to. You've made it easy to do thanks to your video. I was wondering if it's even possible for the slide stop to be installed upside down? When I push on it, it's like pushing on the tip of pin and it actually hurts! I haven't looked closely enough yet, maybe it's chipped or cracked off which is causing it to be so sharp. OR maybe it's installed with the wrong end facing up but I don't know if that's even possible. All of your vids are great! Thanks for creating these!

Sometimes an extractor spring was accidentally put in. It had one more coil and makes it really hard to move it.
@paulpm6 жыл бұрын
thanks for the reply. it's that the top of the slide stop/release is pointy. I will try to get a pic but I don't think my phone camera is good enough to capture it.

Mine is impossible to press in by hand when trying to lock the bolt to the rear, I need a flat tool to press down hard with until it snaps in place. I may need a new stop & spring.
@norwich93CMP3 жыл бұрын
You may have an extractor or other spring inside than the correct one.

@@norwich93CMP Do you think I could use a spring from around the house for the slide stop like one from a ballpoint pen or something? If I were to order one I may as well order a whole new spring kit for the money.

norwich93CMP hi... I have watched all your M 1 carbine video THANK's ... Do you have a video on how to use the trigger spring tool ? i am going to take my trigger housing apart. i have the tool, I haven't seen a video on You Tube as of yet.
@norwich93CMP4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words. A video will not come out on the trigger spring tool because it is too simple. The coiled end goes on the hole on the tool, insert the spring in the rear of the housing moving forward with the lip down. After the trigger is in it will hold the spring in place. Done.

my m1 carbine slide does not stay put when the slide is pulled back.... i can actually hit the gun with the palm of my hand near the strap holder close to the muzzle and the slide will close.... i am thinking i need to replace these 2 little parts in this excellent video.... you guys agree????
@norwich93CMP5 жыл бұрын
They were very sensitive and almost all of mine do the same thing. It was only for a temporary hold open, nothing like other large rifles. I would leave it alone if the edges of the stop and receiver cut are sharp.

norwich93CMP Ok... the slide on mine jumps out on occasion and I was hoping it had something to do with that
@norwich93CMP7 жыл бұрын
Brandon Gasper That's not good, the bottom of your slide might be worn. Its a small tab at the bottom of the box. If the slide is all the way forward move it in the receiver, if there is a lot of play then that's the problem more than likely.

Great video for an idiotic design. Heads up people, if you dont have an awl, you can use a thumb tack. I did and it worked just as well.
