Let's be honest. Any laptop that has Geekbench 6 scores above 2000/8000 can do all CPU tasks easily. The biggest selling points are the battery life, iPhone synchronization, and light video editing.

@ballooneyjr4294 OLED displays are better, which Macbooks do not have currently. Reliable keyboard can be found with Dell and Lenovo laptops. Quality build can be found with Lenovo and Dell business laptops. Only points made that hold up are the trackpad and speakers. Having the best trackpad isn't a selling point for some like myself. A wireless mouse and comfortable keyboard matter more.

@@akin242002 yeah and OLED displays aren’t on any other laptops that cost under $500, heck, most windows laptops at that price point don’t even have a backlight. And if you had ever used a MacBook trackpad you would have absolutely no need for a mouse. On my surface laptop I always have to use a mouse and I get why they put touch screens on it, the trackpad is horrible! On MacBooks it’s literally smoother than butter. If you don’t like macOS that’s fine and I respect it, but don’t come sit here and lie and try to say MacBooks aren’t the best built laptops in the market today.

I own my own consulting business and my M1 Macbook (16gb/1TB) is my main computer for everything I do. I even use it to create training video's and all that goes with running a business that incorporates online and remote interaction. This beast has never let me down and never slows down. I plan to keep it as my main computer until the M5 comes out which will be my next upgrade. Why the M5? Well, I am a Trekkie, so yeah.... Quite the Sci-Fi nerd here. haha!

On macos 14.4.1 my m1 air is getting around 14 hrs of Sot from 100 percent with 22 percent of battery still remaining. Also i noticed geekbench scores are much higher with single being 2373 and multicore of 8849. For 699 dollars which is the current price and with this kind of battery life and power this macbook is best laptop for anyone out there.

Nice. Non-repetitive content in a highly content-farmed area. That's not common, so kudos for that! I personally own a 8, 512 MacBook Air M1. I use it for graphic designing, occasional video editing, and content writing. I always plug it into a 4K monitor and run a dual screen setup. This has been taking it like a champ. This has been perfectly smooth for graphic designing. Many apps running at the same time is also fine. My biggest annoyance with the machine is that when I run WhatsApp or Google Docs, it hogs up the RAM and makes the machine stutter. Even when I edit and render lots of videos in Premiere Pro, it doesn't stutter. But with Google Docs, my God.. My regret is that I should have gone for the 16GB RAM. So if anyone is buying in 2024 and wants to future proof themselves, please get a 16GB version. I mean, its mostly fine with 8GB too, but if I could go back and do a repurchase I would definitely go for the 16GB version.

Thank you for not mentioning the bezels, as I don’t think they should be a big deal, unless you’re a graphic designer who needs as much screen real estate as they can get. I don’t know why lots of tech vloggers have to point out the “thickness” of the bezels when they’re relatively thin and not noticeable at all when you’re watching media or working.

Max charging wattage is 45W. That is a lot faster than the 30W charger it comes with, but it can't go faster than 45W, even if you have a 140W charger. You can see this at 7:57 where it shows 46.32W

@@JinsTechh A tough one..personally I wanted the cheapest one available as I actually sold my M3 Pro. I've got the M2 Mac mini with dual monitors for extensive use. So for me, the M1 checks the boxes. If I had just one Mac, I think I'd go with the M3 Air but with 16GB/512GB, but then that's more money.

I had the m1 and loved it honestly since having the m2 I appreciate the thinner bezels, and the display is aesthetically easy on the eyes. personally, I don't recognize most differences people are annoyed about with the speed and memory swap then although I don't/didn't edit videos anyway on my m1 or m2 so... 🤷🏽‍♂ other than that it looks up to date and basically a thinner version of the current MBP If apple continues this design I don't think I will be upgrading again until m5 and never thought I should downgrade back to the m1

So hard to justify an extra $300 for the M3 base model (at current sale prices). It seems like the M1 MacBook Air is perfect for people wanting to get in to the Apple ecosystem and are unsure of just how well the base model configuration will work for them. My sense is that an M3 is really held back by the base 8GB memory and really needs at least 16GB for the extra processor speed to be useful. This laptop just seems like a more balanced machine, and the M2's base storage is slow enough to be concerning. Thanks for the review!

I am contemplating this machine for my Master's degree study. I multitask and keep tons of tabs open during my research, other than that I only use my laptop for watching YT videos and series. I do not game, edit or do anything of that sort. Brother, please reply to this (I am a starting college student):- In India during the Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale/Flipkart BBD sale, base M1 MacBook Air will be priced around 50k (500 USD); base M2 Air at around 65k (650 USD) and the base M3 at around 85k (850 USD) and the 16 GB variant of the M3 at around 105k (1050 USD). My logic is :- If I buy M1 Air base variant today; it could last me for next 3-4 years but then its resale price will be 0. We can skip the base M2 and there is no point in upgrading the storage as I could just pick the M3 for that price. Now, for the M3, for the 350 dollars, difference I will get a better laptop for next 3-4 years and after that I would get a resale value of around 400-500 dollars which means I could kind of own a M3 Air for less than an M1 Air in a 4 year time frame. Then, if I add the 16 GB upgrade (extra 200 USD), in the 4 years time, when 8 GB ram would really not be enough, I could get additional 150-200 USD resale value (around 70k or 700 USD) meaning it would cost be around the same as the 8 GB M3 MacBook Air or maybe less as 16 GB ram models will be in demand then. So, what call should I take? Which would be a wiser value for money deal??? Please bro, please reply.

I mainly use Linux desktop (Fedora) on AMD cpu and gpu. That said, i do have Apple watch/ipad pro and iphone13. I wanted an apple computer and decided to get a refurb MB Air M2 base model. In shipping now. Should be here in a day or two. I do not do anything too taxing so the base m2 would be the way to go for me. Plus it saves me some $$.

Admittedly, looking back, I would get a MacBook Air. I have the 14" pro (I used to have the Intel 16" pro) and I have terrible body pain all over me including my hands, wrists, and back. I need lightweight tech and something that is not too big or small. I'm not currently doing any work that justifies having a pro at this point. It's cheaper and you already get a large portion of what the pros have going on. If you do light editing or some kind of beginner work, or well, none of that--- I agree the air is a much better option for your money and usage.

Mine easily touches 100F when am on Zoom calls for more than 20 mins and doing something on excel with a dozen odd tabs open in Google Chrome. If you are in a cold climate city it may remain a few degrees lower but for climates like UAE, India etc it easily touches 100 and if you continue the same operations for over an hour - it will cross 100F. Great laptop otherwise, gets most things done.

Battery health can be found under: system information -> power -> health information. It will for sure not be 99%. In fact it's much better too use Al Dente for macos te keep the battery at 80% charge maximum. 50% would be optimal, but not practical, given you'd' want to actually use it on battery too.

The M1 is better than the M2 or M3 if you're getting the base model. 8gb of RAM isn't enough for any of them, but if you're going to get a laptop with 8gb RAM, you don't need a faster chip. the only people buying the M2 or M3 over the M1 don't know anything about computers, or don't care about the $1,400 they're spending
