Great looking 1151. That thing saved my life. Was hit by an IED on Route Tampa, outside of Baghdad International Airport in the vicinity of Route Yankee, and that thing took the brunt of the blast (EFP type IED). Although it left some long lasting injuries, I'm alive thanks to the upgraded armor. Your model looks true to form, man. The vehicle even has the antenna for the FBCB2 (Blue Force Tracker) and the Duke IED defeat system. The square box on the back right side (FBCB2 antenna) was normally an off white or white plastic color. We had a boomerang system on mine as well as what we called a Rhino, which was essentially a 40mm grenade ammo can with a glow plug inside on an extendable boom to try to trick thermal triggers on Improvised Explosive Devices . I really dig your videos, keep up the great work and videos!

Glad you made it back my man. Had the same thing happen to me multiple times. Our 1st "rhino was a 40mm ammo can. Good times! 11 bravo.

Beautiful work !!! Loved your final detailing Weathering!!! I was a crewman , in gun turret in humvee and MRAP as well .50 cal and Bravo 240 B Gunner Excellent !!! Just a note , when we put water cans or extra fuel cans, usual fuel cans were up right and outside of trunk, attached with bungee cords Water was usually extra water bottles, or designated water cans. Just like you had. Designated water or fuel But always upright , not being critical, your work was excellent!! I was in both Afghanistan and Iraq With 101st ABN 2 BCT , 2ND Battalion of 502 Infantry Regiment Head Hunters Co And Bravo Co Well done brother!!!!!

Thank you for your comment and a tip regarding fuel cans. Thanks for you service and I hope you doing well. Did you see a polish apc KTO Rosomak in afghanistan (aka. Green devil or wolverine) I'm building it now.

Seriously professional. When I was a kid, I put models together, but never ever painted them. What a difference.

very nicely done. it has the simplicity of building that Academy is known for, plus it has details that are typical of more complex offerings, like the Bronco M1151 and M1114 Up-Armored Humvees. I quickly recognized elements, such as the SINCGARs radios, Blue Force tracker computer and DUKE Counter IED system. One element that was missing was the Rhino Anti-IED device, mounted on the front bumper. But overall, the kit is really nice. Good job.

I have that same kit!!! I probably won't get to it this year ... or at least not until the end of the year. Hope that I can post when I'm finished with it here. It is ALL about the Paint, especially when adding the highlights....need to spray it gloss. Is that 'pigment fixer' used as a coat to keep the different dry pigments on??
