As a Marine Veteran I appreciate the build,brings back memories

The original model was photographed and studied by Tamiya... which was my trac when I was in Japan at Camp Fuji in June 1987! Our platoon got to go to the Tamiya modeling plant in Tokyo on their invite too! So... this is a model of A-44 Aco Company 4th Platoon 2nd AAV Bn (BLT 1/7) , Fuji Japan 1987. My Amtrac. Cool stuff. Oh BTW... Your modeling is wonderful BUT... AAV's are Aluminum bodied and do not rust. Good job anyway!

I was thinking the same thing about the rust. I was like uhhhhhh that’s aluminum. YAT YAS!
@louch9940Ай бұрын
@@gatermap those bolts and nuts are use as a stainless steel rusted proofed.
@ScaleHangar182Ай бұрын
It's not rust! I don't want to sound cheeky, but corrosion do appear on aluminium, and a lot of photos of AAV online support this claim :)

I was a 1833 while in the Marines. The detail of this model is excellent and accurate. Tamiya did a great job with their molds and I’m awestruck by the builders talent!

YATYAS. Hobby boss does a good one too with a detailed interior. They even do an r7 with all the tool boxes!
@shengyi1701 Жыл бұрын
Only negative thing is why didn’t Tamiya come up with an interior like they did with their first Bradley release and earlier M-113 releases? We got the Hobbyboss one but that’s quite complicated. But building interiors can a separate kit in itself like the 1:35 Meng M3A3 one which I somehow modified to fit into Academy Bradley M2A2 but some turret parts won’t fit though … Anyway got this AAVP7A1 kit from Tamiya too and lovely reference video for me. You can also use BIg Foot AFV club tracks for it if you wish as they use same tracks as Bradleys. Not sure about the new T-161 tracks which are used on 1:35 Kinetic M3A3 Bradleys and in real life.
First off, excellent job. The model looks absolutely fantastic. Best hand painted chocolate chip camo I've seen! I really do like watching your work. Second, a couple of things. 1. Aluminum hull, steel bolts. Rust would be most appropriate around them. That plate covering the front of the track might be steel also. 2. Never saw an Amtrac track link that wasn't bare metal. Pads, when present, were black. 3. If going ship to shore, as the box art shows, no stowage would be on the outside, it would get soaked. If operating on land after, packs typically hung by pack strap or carbineer to the bar at the bottom of the sloped side. Source- USMC grunt, rode in a lot of 'tracs Again, excellent job on the model.

Amazing build! You put just as much work on the tracks as you did the entire kit! I remember building the first version of this kit when it came out in the 90’s....it was the biggest kit I had ever built, and I see the lower and upper hull hasn’t changed since the original.....nor has the crew commander, it’s even the same pose! Beautiful work and looking forward to the next vid!

I tried to do this model long ago when I was a teenager and never completed it, it was difficult for me. Thanks for building it. The other one I remember trying was the TAMIYA chieftain tank, IDK why both seemed diff for me :(

I am not worthy. I am not worthy. I had to stop building models about 1980, age 31, and I still have almost 50 old Monogram aircraft, like the B-29, B-25H, all the other big ones, even the BUF. I had all the old Testors and Polly S paints, tools, kinda a like a museum. Now I'm 72 and retired and just bought this tank--never have built a tank. I feel like I just watched a "MasterClass" in building models. Not only are the skills, techniques, and ingenuity off the charts, but your video style is absolutely perfect, as opposed to those long, drawn-out, discussions and editorial opinions. And why do the Brits pronounce "DE-cals" as "DEK'-uls", like "freckles?" Hideous word.
