M140i Finally Gets M Performance Limited Slip Diff!

Possibly the final modfication for the M140i, and certainly the most important one.

The powerflex rear subframe inserts are highly recommended from me too , had them fitted after the diff , really connects the rear end

@@vollcare4076 yes the yellow ones , I didn’t notice any harshness as such , just a much more planted stable car , they took about a hour to fit with the car on axle stands 😀

@@AddselwynI already have fitted the underbody brace together with the MPerf LSD. I‘ll now fit the yellow subframe inserts and see if it again tightens up the rear axle

Oh you lucky bugger. I'm so envious! I got my mPerformance exhaust in January from Elliot as there was a deal for it, then started a new job so I thought no more spending on the car for a while. Then the a month or so later I saw him advertising the LSD at a discount, I couldn't believe it! I'll just have to wait that bit longer it would seem. Enjoy the diff mate!

Do you need extra little parts (gaskets, circlips, etc...) to fit the LSD?

How much time did the mechanic spent on the fitting ? 2-3 hours plus additional time for the glue hardening ?

Roughly 3/3.5 hours. The glue needs 2 hours to set 😎

@@roadreg1820 I did it by myself 😬 Spent 5 hours 🙈 ...it’s Not That easy to get the diff out: So now i know why they take 300-450€ for fitting

@@vollcare4076 Exactly that. Did you use Prybars to get the driveshafts out of the diff? The dealer has a special tool for that, so that’s one advantage of getting it done at the dealer. Thankfully my mechanic has changed many a diff’s in his time, so he had no issues getting them out! Nice work for fitting yourself 👍🏼 😎

Its been a long time, but i am currently trying to fit mine and for the love of god cant losen the damn 50mm Nut on the driveshaft... dont wanna damage anything

Just saw near the end you said about no aggressive driving until the oil is changed...? They're built for lifetime no?

No you drain the oil from the filler plug with a suction pump then refil , takes 1 litre Castrol syntrax 75/140 lsd oil

@@legendgalaxy it’s good practice to drive ‘Sensibly’ (no power sliding etc) for a few hundred miles and then change for fresh fluid. If you didn’t do this, I’m sure it will be fine. But I would change the fluid, as the fluid was black when we took it out, after only 500 miles

@@legendgalaxy no they don’t , I spoke to drexler , who make the diffs for bmw , they told me to change the oil after run in ( 500 miles ) the oil was a black creamy mess and under filled from the factory 800ml , I will now change every 15000 miles , I also added a “Dimple” magnetic plug to help keep the oil clean 👍

Just do small 8s with the diff / small turning radius, don’t really need 500k
