I had both a Capra 29 CF PRO 2018 and a Jeffsy 29 CF PRO RACE 2019. The Jeffsy I saw as my race bike and the Capra as my freeride and confidence booster for sending stuff. For me at 5’10 / 178 cm on size Large bikes, the reach is good (Capra 465 & Jeffsy 470); could be shorter (450) for more playfulness but is long enough for stability sending it at a little speed. To come down, I did change the Jeffsy stem from 50 to 33 mm; the Capra came with a 40 mm. I recently sold my Capra to a friend getting into mountain biking. My progression is getting into more super steep but not so fast technical sends where I see my Capra replaced by a similar bike that just has the extra outspoken ability from the manufacturer to be ridden as a 79er / mullet / mixer (with warranty and better support for bb height). I don’t know if there will ever be a bike that can perform as both a freeride bike (here, the Capra) and as an enduro race bike (here the Meta / for me the Jeffsy). 🤷♂️ Until then, I think there will always be bikes on either end of this spectrum - or somewhere in the middle. So, MILTONATOR, thank you for clearing up the difference between a freeride and a race bike for a lot of people, here also using the perfect example, YT Capra!

My previous bike was a YT jeffsy which I was in love, but I changed it for a Commençal MetaPower 29race 2019 which I love, both bikes rides very well but I have to give also a better overall score to YT, and it's because the postsales service and also the attention the have put to details like the frame bearings, both frame are alumminum but YT has metal spaces with a rubber o-ring to give a proper seal and all the whole frame finish was better than the Metapower (paintjob is really bad, paint peels off easily even with small impacts.

Think about the 170 Capra from a different view point. I am 6-3 so this bike proportionally is like a 150mm bike for a 5-8 person and a 120mm bike for a 5-2 person. So for me being a 6-3 pole vaulter the 170mm feels perfect and balanced and fit for us tall folks.

did you fill the rear shock of the capra with volume spacers? usually holds the bike up a bit more in the travel

It is now more slack, plush but still even more efficient both climbing and descending, for me that is. Cheers!

With the Commencal Meta which one did you like better? The 27.5 or the 29er?
@MILTONATOR3 жыл бұрын
The 27.5 was super agile and snappier around the corners and easier to jump with. The 29er grew longer and slightly heavier which made it more capable on the descents (faster) but took more effort to maneuver and jump with. Liked them both 🤷🏻♂️
@Dempsey2223 жыл бұрын
@@MILTONATOR I had the same exact opinion about both bikes. I just switched to a 29er but I liked 27.5 better because it was easier to turn and whip around. I will stick with this 29er for a bit longer but next bike will be a 27.5. I am 6 foot 4 and still like the 27.5 better.

I've not been attracted to it because it's more of freeride/bike park bike and even though the Meta AM is big travel also, it's a better fit for all mountain riding (climbs and descents). I want to buy my first full suspension mtb next season and I have been thinking about the Capra. I plan to start riding more aggressively and I also want to go to bike parks occasionally (I have no bike parks nearby, so this will not happen too often, but I wanna have fun). I also had a spine trauma in the past and think that a little more cushion would be good. My concern is that I also want to do a lot of long bike trips with some friends who are not into enduro and I enjoy long rides in the country side and since I do not want to spend lots of money on 2 bikes, the bike I get must also be able to handle this. If the Capra is a pain to ride for some long hours it is not the bike for me. So what do you think should I get it or settle for Jeffsy?

Oh man! Again, I think It comes down to which one is better for you, for your type of riding and trails you ride. Looking over geometry I think the Clash will climb better and with it’s slacker head tube, it may also descend better on the straight-down-plows. But the Capra Shred looks to be more agile (I’m imagining based on geo). Good luck, because in terms of value, both builds are about the same.
