1:23 you can hear a very loud clicking of a button on the flashlight :D I hope this and the footsteps didn't mess up any of your recordings. This is a great project! Good Luck!

Cameras tend to extremely compress audio; The tracks came out clean.

This might be a very silly, amateur question, but do all professional sound designers use their own recordings as samples? Or is it okay to just download a sample library and work with that?

It is sometimes a combination of the two. There is nothing wrong with using sample libraries, the only issue with it is that you are stuck with what someone else has recorded, so if you want something specific you either need to find a library that has it or go record it yourself.
