hey, I make some niche techno music no other people make, could you give a few tips about how to make sound sound underwater ? I can nail the feeling after doing a lot of research, trial and errors... I'd like to hear from a pro his process though.

Thanks a lot! A bit off-topic, but are you satisfied with using Cubase for sound design? I'm already proficient in Cubase but started to learn Reaper, even though it's a bit overwhelming learning sound design and a new DAW at the same time, so maybe I should stick to Cubase for now? Thanks in advance!

I use Nuendo, but yes I’m very happy with it.if you are going to be working with a big team, reaper is more or likely what you need to learn, but if you are going to be working with a film team then ProTools is what you need to learn. What I often do when working with films though is work 100% in Nuendo then export the session data and import it within ProTools then send that session. Games it is a little more tricky cause reaper does not have a AAF import/export option.

As a newcomer, I’d have expected that noise removal would need to be done before gain adjustments. If you change the gain first, won’t that make for a varying level of noise throughout the track?

Sample rate kind of works like FPS for video, hard to tell the difference when you play two different clips in normal time but when you try to slow them both down, the one with higher fps will look smooth (because there is more information) and the one with less FPS will be choppy and unusable.

Good tips here. I couldn't unfortunately find any IR for field - any tips where to get specific ones? I saw Boom got a nice library but I only needed this for one thing and wasn't so eager to spend too much. In the end I used Arturia's Intensity to give some distance and reverb to my sound. Worked quite well.

You can make your own with a stereo mic and an IR verb.

Thanks for the video since there doesn't seem to be a user guide for Tentacle Studio. When you choose to Export "Media", there are the options for "Synchronized Quicktime Movies" and "Original media with embedded Time code". Do you know the differences between the two options and why you would choose one option over the other? I wonder what both of the aforementioned options do since the "Pass Through Original" was left as the setting for both Video and Audio during your export. Also, would it be true that when exporting media, which has the effect of converting audio timecode to metadata timecode, you then would not need to export an XML file from Tentacle Studio to Premiere since now you can simply load the new clips with embedded timecode and they would be synced properly on their own by Premiere?

I know this is kind of generic, but maybe you could make a tutorial video explaining how to make very realistic and authentic sword sounds using the boom library “Medieval Melee or “mediaeval weapons” or just even how to make your own samples, since they’re mostly in the fantasy range of things just an option and idea

Hi mate, thx for the video, very helpful. Though I need a question answered. The file structure you named ''Files recorded for SFX library''. Do you put stuff YOU have recorded in it? As in it's only personal stuff you have created?
@AftertouchAudio3 ай бұрын
Yes, they are only sounds I’ve personally recorded. It is usually for a planned library. If for example I wanted to make a slot machine sfx library and I started planning recording sessions to get these sounds those sounds would go in there.

Hi Aftertouch audio, new sub here. I have just started learning game sound design and started working on a Call Of Duty Warfare gameplay clip. I am able to add the gun sounds, foleys and other game notification/ warning sounds. But when I compare mine with the original clip, I find my sound design missing a lot of low end, like around from 300 to 50k. How do I fill up the low end?

I hired some voice actors on Fiverr. Very cheap if you only need some vocal efforts, but I also put together a pack of vocal efforts that I use now.
