I've been trying to bring more and more people onto the channel to provide there take on sound designing a specific genera of sound as I personally don't like learning from one person all the time. It is nice to take bits and pieces from everyone and build your own workflow that way.

How to make the sound effect for a simple charge attack? For example, a knight preparing an overhead slash with particle effects to show it is gathering power before making a quick and wide slash

hey how do you go about adding these vocal layers? did you record someone for them or are they sourced from a library? i find this to be one of the more challenging steps
@AftertouchAudio5 ай бұрын
I hired some voice actors on Fiverr. Very cheap if you only need some vocal efforts, but I also put together a pack of vocal efforts that I use now.

Hello. Thank you for showing all these amazing sfx tutorials. As a college student, what are some free general plugins you can recommend?
@AftertouchAudio Жыл бұрын
Depends on the daw that you are using, and I know lots of people don't like this answer but, most of the stock plugins are where it is at.

@@AftertouchAudio Personally, I'm using fairlight in Davinci resolve due to its integration with the rest of the program. Is there anything that you can say can be improved?
@AftertouchAudio Жыл бұрын
I’ve used lots of daws before but Fairlight would be one that I have not personally used, so I’m not sure what can or cannot be improved. Realistically if you can use EQ, Reverb, Delay, Volume Automation, Pitch Shifting, and Compression you have most of what you need. Once you find that one if those components is not working out for you in your DAW of choice then it might be time to upgrade.

@AftertouchAudio Thank you so much for taking the time to read my comments and answering my questions. The main thing I struggle with is getting all my sounds to sound well together without drowning each other out. How do I (as Marshall McGee puts it, “gluing together”) get my sounds to sound cohesive with multi band compressing, distortion and/or other effects?

Thanks so much for the video super helpful, question, is Pro Tools a recommended DAW for sound design?
@AftertouchAudio Жыл бұрын
ProTools is the industry standard for film, you should know it if you would like to learn in Liner media, but Reaper is kore geared towards games. I use Nuendo because it is the best of both worlds, but I would not say there is a “best” daw for sound design, but those are the three I recommend if you want to go down those paths.

best tutorials out! where did you source the vocals come from?
@AftertouchAudio Жыл бұрын
As much as I would love to say, they came from my vocal pack, they actually came from this one. www.asoundeffect.com/sound-library/voices-of-battle-volume-one-8-female-voice-actors/ This creator also has a male version of the pack, both are awesome for demos like these =^.^=

What's a good audio recorder on budget that is good for sound design? Like I wanna record all kinds of sounds, like grass moving with wind, something cracking, literally versatile recorder, but good quality one. After I record them I wanna manipulate them and use.
@AftertouchAudio Жыл бұрын
One of the best recorders I’ve ever used is the PCM D100, it is used on a lot of very big libraries and is something I take with me everywhere. That being said it is no longer being manufactured, so you can only find them on the used market anywhere from $500-$2500. A solid 2nd choice is the Zoom Handy series, though they don’t do so well with quiet sounds as the D100 does. But my favorite handheld recorder series has to be the Sony PCM line. D100, D50, D10, A10.
