Hi Mr Warrior. The M232 replaces the M133--we found that separating the battery pack from the light itself led to better wheel balance. You can install up to 4 M232s on a wheel by plugging two lights into one battery and mounting two battery packs on either side of your hub.

Hi Toshko. We are all cyclists ourselves, and daily bike commuters. We have not found the M232 to impact wheel balance. We improved upon the design from the M133 to the M232 by moving the battery pack from the light itself to the hub, thus improving wheel balance.

Hey guys, just installed the M232 tonight and am loving it so far! Just out of curiosity, does it matter which "direction" the LED board is facing relative to the direction the wheel is spinning? I have mine set so the strip of lights are in the "front" as the wheel rotates. It appears that way in this video too, but just wanted to double-check. ...Or maybe I'm over-thinking this because the same patterns emit from both sides of the assembly, making the whole "direction" thing moot :)

does installation alter tire balance? in my bike riding days truing / balancing the wheel was important. i notice only clunker type bicycles in demos, what if bicycle is road racer model,

We suggest installing the battery pack opposite from the light to offset the weight, but it's really not a big deal. I don't think we'll see anyone riding in the Tour de France with our lights, but I've taken my M232s on 60-80 mile rides with zero balance issues.

Hey I hope you guys are still active on this video. I cannot find information on this anywhere. Does the side of the light where there are 2 spoke attachments needs to face the forward travelling side,the backwards, or does it even matter? If you could confirm that would be ideal because it seems that a few of the patterns don't show correctly and I just want to be sure

Hi Josh, it's kind of a complicated answer. There's a 20" wheel 'standard' for rims and tires, and that's what we are referring to. The easiest way to tell is by looking at the markings on the tire. It may have something like 20" x 1.75", or 20" x 2.125". That's a 20" wheel, and our light will fit. The actual measurement of diameter of the entire wheel will probably be bigger than 20" because of varying tire sizes. The measurement of the diameter of the rim is probably a little less than 20" on a 20" wheel. Strange, right??

Hi, MonkeyElectric, I have a 2005 Giant TCR 2. I bought the M232 and I am in trouble because of how my spokes are spaced on the rims. It has a spoke count 20 in the front and 24 in the rear, so It's pretty spaced out. Is there an option for these kinds of rims? I haven't received my lights yet so I haven't tried fitting them yet.

Hi Fraser, they can display the same theme, but you need to set them to do so using the Theme button. This would fill up more of the wheel with your desired theme. We can look into making a video for that, but we have other videos we are working on that we need to finish first!

James, hard to say without seeing the wheel, but it might be a tight fit for anything but the M204. Attaching our battery pack to the hub might be tricky as well, but again, I can't really be sure without seeing the wheel. James, if you email us with a photo of the hub and wheel, we can better answer your question. I can tell you that our M232 will fit on 20" or larger spoked bicycle wheels with a standard hub. Many motorized hubs are too large to attach our battery pack in the normal way, but people have sometimes been able to attach it by using extra zip ties.

HI Martin88ho Our lights are designed for 20" wheels and up. Some 19″ wheels will work. You can measure the width of open space between your spokes, close to the hub. If it is 38mm or more then the light should fit ok. The wheel hub must be at least 38mm wide to fit the battery holder. If you buy the lights and they do not fit, we would be happy to issue you a refund.

It's a shame these aren't programmable. I know a less-expensive model like this won't be as good as the pro, but it could certainly do things like text or basic pixel art with no problem... Seems a waste to have only the pre-programmed patterns. ...It'd be way cool to have something better than the 210 to use on my Brompton (16" wheels), too. Just sayin'... :)

I ride in the Bay Area (bike theft is common here) and I personally don't bother with the anti-theft strip. I've never had any problems. But I'm also very careful about where I lock up my bike. I don't think people really notice the lights when they're turned off an the bike is parked. But if they have a tool that can cut the spokes, it can probably also cut the anti-theft strip as well. Honestly if they carry bike theft tools with them, I'd be much more worried about them cutting my ulock and taking my bike or just stealing my wheel set. ;-)
