M2C Racing Pillowball Retainer Full Install Arrma 6s 8s & New Tool
Awesome Upgrade here from M2C Racing for your Arrma 6s or 8s trucks. These Pillowball Retainer lock in and don't back out by design from M2C Racing.
Plus M2C's new install tool that works on 6s and 8s REALLY helps you get the feeling for installing these so you don't accidentally crossthread them and strip the hub!! There is NOTHING like this out there!
Just fantastic work here from Mitch and the M2C Racing team

Great bench video sesh Dennis. Great info and how-to. Well done man. Prop to Mitch for going with 6s pillow ball and insert design for the 8S line. That dual pillow ball driver is just genius! Awesome!!

So simple and effective the design, don't know why it was changed on the 8s line.... M2C to the rescue! And yes this tool is essential for any Arrma Owner IMHO... Makes its so easy to NOT crossthread these Pillowball Retainers. Thanks for your time and the kind words my friend 👍 Bash on brother Chris

Hello. Why do some call the pivot balls, pillow balls? I’ve not seen them referred to pillow balls in any of my manual’s. Thank you.

Good question, It's literally just what about 50% of dudes out there call them.... Makes no sence because your right... It's not the PROPER name. But try to find Dogbones in your manual as well?? Yet 50% of dudes call there Outdrives/drive-shafts Dogbones instead....myself included. Hope ya enjoyed the video and channel brother, see ya round

Will these pilots ball lugs work on Vitacon steering couplers on a Kraton 8s?
@3SonsRC
@3SonsRC 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure to be fair brother. I don't have those to test. Are there issues with them backing out on the vitavon hubs? If it's not broke don't fix right? This is a fix to the fact that Arrma stock ones are one piece as the ball has friction to the cup it backs out the whole inner piece. Seperating it into two pieces fixes this. Sorry don't know if you would need these or if they are compatible. Hope your enjoying the channel brother.... See ya round

Those droop screws from M2c you use do they fit on the outcast 8s ?
@3SonsRC
@3SonsRC 3 жыл бұрын
Great question... Yes they do but you just have to drill out the holes slightly. I think Rich used them, I just use 2 sets of button head 3mm screws per arm, but some use the larger thread ones of the M2C 6s trucks Droop Screws on 8s. I haven't personally tried them.

@3SonsRC
@3SonsRC 3 жыл бұрын
Holding up great brother In fairness the Arrma v4 and after Pillowballs are ok, there just easy to cross thread if you have to take them out at all, so I like the M2C option WITH the tool... The tool really helps prevent Cross Threading

So I went to install a set on my girlfriends notrious, they seemed to thread in fine I did use the tool I bought one, but I still had what I thought was a lot of wobble vertically in my wheel. So of course I tightened them more, but my servo seemed to be struggling. I lossened them till servo seemed happy but now I have a bunch of play in my wheel , is my hub shot or wheel bearings? I didn't have this much play before but did have a ball pop out last week hence my purchase
@3SonsRC
@3SonsRC 2 жыл бұрын
Great question, Check for cracks around the ball part of the knuckle.... It's easy to break there if it's popped even once. I usually tighten it all the way till it feels tight and then back it out a tiny bit so there is tiny bit of play in the ball cup area... Just a tiny bit. It that is done on all four cups and the servo is stressing you have other issues, end points of the servo could be set too far, check your Ackerman bar? Could be different things. Good luck. Appreciate your time and support brother, hope to see ya round

nice! do they require o-ring as the standard one (at least on 6s)?
@3SonsRC
@3SonsRC 3 жыл бұрын
No you don't need an O Ring, the v4 ones have an O Ring that helps hold the pillow ball in a bit, but these stay in by having a wider lip.... Problem with the O Ring is that the come off especially if you are a little off in the thread. So the combination of these Pillowball Retainers and the tool (so you can thread it right every time) is such a simple great system.

@paulclancy2404
@paulclancy2404 3 жыл бұрын
It all works on the pillar ball ,pillarball cup and pillar ball retainer , its a better material they use, and like he said they won't back out as easily , the outcast 8s arrma uses plastic pillarball retainers " they didnt taper them or anything so this good upgrade why arrma didnt use atleast metal idk 🤔 till i hit up m2racing i used tephlon tape i almost lost one , if you have o8s check em they loosen pretty fast 😉

Some call them Pillar Balls, some Pillow Balls... Tomato Towmato. I hear ya though Hope y'all found this useful. These are ABSOLUTELY essential on the 8s trucks as there is no seperate nut and cup, so they loose so easily! And better than even the v4 6s Retainers as those can still be threaded wrong too.... Ah, shouldn’t the tool be included with the purchase of the retainer sets? I like M2C parts BUT their extremely expensive and their must buy this to have this is ridiculous! Money mongers! Gotta pay for them CNC machines somehow. FYI…Hot Racing has very similar parts and just as durable for less.
@3SonsRC
@3SonsRC 3 жыл бұрын
Really appreciate your time and comment brother. If the tool was included it would drive the cost up too high on a cheap part. It's definitely not a MUST BUY, as you can still use a standard hex, the tool just aids in stopping cross threading. It's all cost labor and some profit, remember they are making small batches for groups of orders per week. Not huge assembly lines like traxxas or Arrma parts, made individually on a CNC machine, very different process, and you can't exactly pay those CNC workers $12 an hour😂🤣 But I get it man, stuff air cheap. But RC is not cheap🙁 But when two EXB shock towers are about $70 from Arrma and two M2C EXB Towers are about the same with 10% off running coupons I say that's pretty fair. My 2 Cents.... Bash on brother
