Some very nice effects. I started using the Weathering Pencils this year, and I'm very happy with the results. Looking forward to seeing the next video, and where you take this.

i struggled to get a decent effect from those pencils i will try again with renewed vigor thanks for the inspiration

Hi Simon. I think that the "trick" (if there is one) is understanding that the pencils are another tool in the box and can produce unique effects - and not a replacement for other tools. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Hi Daniel, many thanks. I am planning on producing one more episode that will feature the pencils in a more lengthy and detailed manner as I continue with this project. That episode will probably become available just after the holidays.

I like the pencils but when I add the water to the model it desolves the acrylic paint. Should I prime my models first to make the paint stick better? And if so with what kind of paint?
@RickLawlerPropaganda Жыл бұрын
If the acrylic paint is dry then water shouldn't effect it (unless you are using Mission Models). It does sound like it is a sticking issue, the pressure used with the pencils is causing the paint to lift. Primer before painting should help with this.

If you do ever need some paint masks again, feel free to hit me up. My vinyl cutter has its limits but I'm always willing to try. Really enjoying these videos Rick.

That would be easier with decals if you would put gloss coat before decals
@RickLawlerPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
I sometimes use gloss, but usually don't find it necessary. It depends upon the quality of the decal.

@@RickLawlerPropaganda You never had problems with stains on matt paint after water or decal liquid?
@RickLawlerPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
@@baltazargabka_ No, I haven't had issues with staining. Lucky I guess!
@baltazargabka_2 жыл бұрын
@@RickLawlerPropaganda Sometimes I had. Especially on deep matt tamiya. Not sure if it was because of water, decal glue or decal liquid.
@RickLawlerPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
@@baltazargabka_ If that is the case that you are experiencing stains, then yes, the gloss coat is very helpful. I used to do it out of habit, but over time I have found that it didn't seem necessary. But, as I mentioned, it does depend upon the quality of the decal, sometimes they are thick and I know that they will take more work and so I would probably begin with a gloss knowing that I would need to repeat application treatments.
