2025 Shelby GT350 and GT350R - Big Mistake? | Owner Reaction

We got spoiled with what ford sold us. When the 350s and 500s were Fords best and Shelby American was left scratching their head after releasing the right. Now that the rights have returned we are back to nicely built body and performance kits with huge price tags. Ford made the 350 special much like the first. They were Lighter with a special motor from the inside out. The suspension, brakes, tires, cooling, and aero were addressed just like the original. Shelby American needs to find better ways to make these legends more special and more unique. A plaque and stripes won’t do it anymore.

Ford originally when designing the flat plane engine used the same firing order as Ferrari & what the current Z06 uses. Management felt the mustang crowd would not like the high pitch sound, so they changed the firing order and added more weight to the crank which defeats a FPC in the first place. Instead of trying to compete with Chevy by making a new FPC engine and sticking it in a new Ford GT and then use the same engine in the GT350, they have reverted back to their "parts bin" mentality while the GT is stuck with their "eco boost" parts bin engine.

In my opinion they bombed. They are missing the exclusiveness factor. The best thing about the s550 gt350, gt500, and super snake is that it can’t be easily replicated and it stands out from a normal GT due to the widebody and aggressive styling and a completely different power plant. I’ve seen multiple s650 replicas and nobody knew it was a replica at the time. I can dig the s650 gt350r though, it seems like they tried a little bit with that

I just don't understand flow-formed wheels, supercharger, body work and rebranded BMR suspension parts for $100,000. They could have done some engine work.

Because this isn't sold by Ford, shelby america buys it from Ford and mods it; and on top of all that have to sell it and make a profit.

The high revving flat plane crank Voodoo was what made the GT350 unique and different don't get me wrong the coyote is a masterpiece itself but there's too many different variants of Mustang with the same engine. Just my opinion but die hard Ford and Mustang fan always have a 03 lightning now love it.

Nice video with a fair and objective analysis. Note the lack of performance info for this base Shelby GT 350 (0 to 60, 60 to 0, 1/4 Mile, etc.). I love Shebly vehicles but I am increasingly concerned as to my bang for the buck. All this pushes people to the Vette.

Thanks Fran. I'm guessing 0-60 will be pretty good on this one but not sure about cornering. The GT350 (prior model) literally goes around corners on rails. I'm wondering if this one can outperform it.

You’re spot on. I was wishful thinking of a gen 3 voodoo with optional Whipple and some new styling. Never made any financial sense for Ford to build that, but a guy can dream 🤙🏾

Nice video Brian I have a 2020 350 and thought they were done with the best na platform. Overpriced upgrade Though my 350 has had some issues like the flywheel going, while the clutch was fine. The new model will have the dealer gouge added to the sticker.

I own a 2008 Shelby GT with a Whipple. You could have Shelby install a supercharger and have them designate your Shelby GT as a Shelby GT/SC. That’s what this is. This is too expensive. At that price point so many other cars are available in that price range. As a Shelby owner I’m disappointed. The least they could’ve done was start with a DarkHorse at that price.

Thats pretty unfortunate when you consider the die-hard Mustang enthusiast that have kept this car galloping along for decades are now pushing the price tag into the stratosphere especially when insurance isn't cheap which is what causes an extinction.

In my opinion it’s just a GT premium steering wheel has the mustang but a true gt350 has the snake overall they just dropped the ball

I think Ford locking the computer has kept small manufacturers like Saleen and Shelby from mak8ng these cars more unique. Sad times.

Another parts bin mustang. Ford either needs to dump the moto of "where else can we use this technology" by innovating a new flat plane crank or stick to making affordable pony cars. $100k for a mustang gt with a different badge & a whipple is not going to cut it.

This does nothing nothing for me. This doesn’t make much more than my Terminator for power and my Terminator sounds way better than a shitty coyote This is a GT with a whipple and Shelby body panels

Yeah and the price is insane for that. I remember that company (Lebanon Ford I think) who was doing Mustang GT's with superchargers for like $40K. Those were the good ol days!
