After switching from stock intake to the Cobb redline is a huge difference in sound. After install the car wasnt too happy with it being in. It didnt want to start and took a minute to start. Once started the car held a high rpm idle and slowly came back down to a little lower than original idle. The throttle response was also not as instant as it was before install. I drive an 18 STi. It definitely needs a tune from an accessport for this install. It sounds amazing and i love how it reaponds when it is actually on the highway. With that said it did have a hiccup while on the highway. Definitely needs a tune. It did make the car feel more a live.

I am at a bit of a cross roads with my SF intake. On one hand I want to do all of the modifications that most people do to keep the IAT's low (gold tape on the outside of the box, maybe some insulation on the inside, fender air ducting, etc). More and more I am starting to lean towards just buying this new intake but I just don't have the funds for it currently but I might consider getting it later on. My car is still stock on the stage one map.

The cobb ots is very safe. And by that I mean it’s catered to a blanket of cars as opposed to individually tuning your specific car. I highly recommend getting the car tuned on the dunk or an etune catered to your specific car. Not all mods and cars are created equal!

Hard to say since every car is different. But if I were to guess, I would say probably around 300-310hp and 290-300tq to the wheel. Maybe a little more. Maybe a little less, but I would say around there is what you should expect.

have you tried putting the end cap to see if it is quiet? i want an intake but do not want the added woosh noises and the risk of injesting water as my sti is my full time car. i just discovered this intake and it appears to be fully sealed with the end cap and will not heat soak since it is very close to the stock intake design layout.
@Autofreakgarage4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried it with the end cap on, so I can’t comment. However, Cobb claims it removed the intake sound completely. You won’t have an issue with hydro locking. Unless your car is in a lake with water over the hood, you won’t have to worry about that.

If you are planning to go more than stage 1+, you’ll need all the proper supporting fueling mods. I would recommend just the intake and stage 1+ tune. If you want to add a downpipe, I suggest upgrading the fueling components.

If you have another car that has power, stay stage 1+. It’s plenty of fun snd it honestly doesn’t need more power. It’s all about the balance and how it handles. But yes, can go stage 2 with a Downpipe. Just can’t do the intake as well unless you upgrade the fueling.
