Audio/Music recording. The perfect little machine to replace my ageing 2018 Intel Mac Mini. The lack of a discrete GPU is really noticeable once you've hooked up a couple of 4K displays, so it's really starting to show it's age. The M4 Pro Mac Mini is the perfect upgrade!!

Just installed my M4 16Gb/1TB Mac Mini. Now, I’m a non business user so my old M1 Mac Mini was fine. But with the M4 I am now firmly future proofed. But in any case I just had to have one. It’s SO small and after Time Machining my old Min across, a few tweaks and updates of apps and logins it’s sitting there. Silent but deadly…… For once it on the desktop not underneath. Can’t comment on performance and why would I ? We all know it’s blistering fast and efficient and frankly it’s just gorgeous and my Samsung 4k monitor does it justice. As for noise well there’s none even downloading and copying large movie files. Well done Apple

got mine yesterday, after swapping for my m1 MacBook pro. i just went for the base m4, with 32gb unified memory and 1TB. i can really tell from m1 how snappy it is. ive opened pretty much every app i have at the same time and can't get it to slow down. including 3d modelling. i could have pushed for an m4 pro, but the m1 served me well for everything i used it for so figured the m4 would be good. but i did have an argument with myself daily.

so i picked up my mac mini m4 yesterday (base model) and its my very first MAC coming over from windows. I originally purchased it for my dad as a small simple PC for him to browse the internet, do emails and watch youtube. But what has happened is its currently on my desk and I've ditched my dell XPS 15 for it and I haven't looked back yet! Of course there's some things I need to get used to like I need to re-configure my keyboard somehow (keychron k8 pro) but everything has worked seamlessly so far. I was intending on buying something I can game on but I just thought I hardly ever play so no point spending the extra money on it - and this just ticks all the boxes!

I also got my Mac Mini on Friday (Nov 8). For me it’s my toe-dip into MacOS. I’ve been using iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch for years, but stubbornly remained a Windows guy on Dell (mostly for work reasons). It’ll take me a while to adjust to the switch (already cursing the difference between control-c and command-c). As for the Mini itself, I’m impressed. Just went with the base model but did upgrade to 512G SSD. I’m using the mini with two LG 32” 4K monitors via Thunderbolt 4. Bonus for me, the monitors each have two USB-A ports that are now acting as a hub for my USB-A peripherals.

Picked up my M4Pro/48b/1TB yesterday😊, The guy in the Apple Store seemed more excited than me! and just slightly less excited than you 😆 I bought it to speed up my Lightroom processing. As the previous machine was an Intel 2016 MBP the difference is of course hilarious! But I’ve also won a chunk of my desk space back as well, the size is pretty bonkers especially when you see it in the flesh. The old MBP was doing okay (though the fans came on a lot) until I bought a Fuji GFX 100s last year… Not so much ‘the straw that broke the camels back’ more like a barn! This new mini (like mini mini!) powerhouse is awesome! Hope you’re enjoying yours👍

I got mine yesterday. Base M4, 24gb, 512gb. I too was super excited about it. I have a MacBook Pro 2015 intel i5, that I have barely used. I'm primarily a Windows guy. I've started a new KZbin channel and I've been doing my video editing on my main Windows box, (Ryzen 3700x, 32gb) and it works great. I thought I'd try to make this my editing machine and try to really use the Mac as a primary machine for a test. I got Davinic Resolve Studio loaded up and have seen a few things during use that makes me wonder if it's worth making the switch for. I'm honestly on the fence of sending it back and waiting to get something more powerful a little later (like a M4 Pro with more memory). I'm going to give it some more time and use before I decide. I'll also check out your videos to get some input as well.

I was going to go with 48gb of memory but they don't have those in the stores. So I will start with this. If I find the need to change it later, I'll just do it then.

I can confirm that USB-C to headphone dongle does work in both the Thunderbolt ports and the front USB-C. I have one and have just tested it with some headphones.

@@rswaz Presumably because it is on the front and is therefore less than ideal for speakers.

Received a base yesterday in the UK...almost 2 weeks earlier than I expected! Hardest I'll likely need to push it is for some hobbyist music production. Looking for an external ssd! Coming from a base imac 2013, this is a momentous occassion for me! 😅

you mentioned the power button, on the Studio it barely fits so they stuck it on the curve of the back.

I was going to switch an old MacBook pro for a mini M2. Happy that I didn't make it... Definitely going for a mini m4

Can I ask a dumb question please guys? I can’t find an answer anywhere, but, if you have a MacBook that you hook up to a monitor, why would you need a Mac Mini? Is it just the convenience of having it connected all the time?

On the topic of thermals, people regularly bring up how they've never heard the fans spin up on their M-series macs... but on the intel mac mini the fans *also* don't spin up until long after it's crossed the point of being alarmingly hot (unless you use a 3rd party utility to set more reasonable thresholds for the fan). So not hearing the fan doesn't say that much on its own. Maybe it's because the chip thermals are that good but maybe it's because apple decided that they'd rather subject users to thermal throttling than a little bit of fan noise.

I have just got Mac mini m4 I have noticed that apples SuperDrive does not work on thunderbolt 4
@ronrichards665324 күн бұрын
All you need is a cheap USB-A to USB-C adapter to plug the Superdrive into your Mini. From Apple: "Mac systems with USB-C ports are supporting using a USB-C to USB-A adapter."

How do you not know which Mac Mini it is? You must have checked your courier details and shipping details at Apple's website.

Because the time in between grabbing it and sitting in front of the camera was ludicrously short, mate.

If you really want it to turn on and off you can automate it. I use a handy utility called Onyx to do this for me.
